These speakers rock, without a amp on a rubbish sendai radio that I payed about £30 sounds amazing. Has a good bass response good mids and sweet highs, got these for my brothers polo and they make the fly's in the front sound auwful compared to these.
1 negative they don't come with any speaker cable or screws but I managed to use the screws from the old ripspeed speakers the car came with.
If you looking for loads of bass but don't want a sub in the boot, look no further.
A++

AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!! I never write reviews but for this I had too. These speakers have made my car sound so wonderful. I'm real fussy about good sound and can say that these produce a lovely clear sound with great bass. My girlfriend who is a geek about sound said that the lower mid is ever so slightly lacking, however that's her being ultra picky. Don't get her wrong, she loves them. I'm playing them through a basic alpine head unit with no amp... they are loud, very loud. For this price they are a steal, buy them... you will not be disappointed.... they sound so good, I just want to drive in my car to listen to them. Enjoy...

Bought these as a present for my younger sibling to spice up his car. He loves them, to say how cheap they are the sound is very good! Not tinny or bad quality when turned up loud (like he often does) and the speakers themselves look nice and are quite big. Perfect if you don't want to pay a lot but want decent quality.

These WILL NOT dissappoint 13 Jan. 2012
By Jmac - Published on Amazon.com
After spending about a month waiting for some money and finally getting it, i was looking around at several other 6x9s such as Kenwoods and Pioneers and they all looked good. Then i went on some external websites and found a review of 10 of the top 6x9 speakers on the market today and, amazingly since these JBL's are cheaper than some of the competitors, they were rated top notch in every category. So I went for it.
They arrived quickly, as you would expect from amazon. I immediately got to work boring out an area for them, since my car previously had 6.5's in the back. After that, I had to wait for some time to get money for a deck, since the one I just had blew up in a cloud of smoke.
Now, for the past month, I've had them hooked up with a Pioneer TS-W303R 12" 4-Ohm Subwoofer hooked up as my sub. I'm running them through a simply ancient Kenwood KAC-846 from the 90's with a blown channel. It's running a sub on a low pass crossover bridged on one pair of inputs and these shoved into the non blown channel on the other. And the verdict?
Simply Staggering!!!! I never knew such perfect headphone-quality sound was possible in a car. I have made several people storm off because there $1000+ dollar systems get blown away by these babies. Nearest to perfect sound that you can get in car audio.
The tweeters are crisp, clear and concise, the mids are perfect with voices coming out well above everything else and the lows.......I never knew such bass could come out of one small pair of 6x9s. I even have a friend who is a professional audio sales person come by and listen to them and he nearly lost his jaw in amazement because of the clear sound these things produce. They are nearly studio monitor sound with a proper tune, and thats a really rare thing in car audio.
Cons? Well, i do wish it had push terminal inputs instead of ones you have to solder the cables on.
All in all, i would buy several more pairs of these and have been recommending them left and right. Buy them, you will not regret it.

Honestly one of the best I've heard 26 Oct. 2013
By Danno - Published on Amazon.com

Been doing car audio for 30 years, and have owned at least 100 sets of various types of speakers. Usually not a huge fan of 6x9's in general due to larger cones slightly muddying mid-range frequencies. And most 6x9s are so bright they make my teeth rattle.

I took a flyer on these due to price and reviews. My Tacoma takes 6x9's up front so I decided I'd try these. I like my tweeters soft so I decided not to use tweets in the upper door location and just go with a coax. I'm a fan of one point imaging and in a relatively noisy truck tweets up high overpower the mids in the door, which causes me listener fatigue.

Each speaker's getting 50 watts of clean Alpine amp power, and I set the attenuation to -6dB. For the 1st time in my life a set of speakers actually needed more highs. So I set the switch on normal and was surprised that I preferred it that way. I'd imagine a rear deck application would probably need the attenuation but up front they didn't.

Bottom line:

Pros: Very well balanced sound.
Impressive bass output (typical of most 6x9's I've heard). Grade A-Minus

Strong mid-range. Better than almost any 6x9 I've ever heard. Grade A-Plus

Good but not great highs. Very pleasing sound though. The super tweeter is occasionally hissy on S's, but certainly not worth downgrading much. Grade B

Cons: If I had to nit-pick, I'd say the upper mid-range is a tad bright. I have a mid EQ on my head unit set at -2 db @ 2,500hz and that cures it perfectly.

This is my 3rd set of JBL speakers. I'm now a big fan. Their GTO 6-1/2 coax and separates are also great sounding sets as well. You'd likely have to spend around $500 to get noticeably better sound.

Great speakers 7 April 2011

I just ordered these from Amazon and received them promptly. These were a simple choice for my Jeep Patriot since it comes with 6x9 sized... speakers at all four corners. I installed them in about an hour.... I wouldn't say I was very impressed, but only because I already knew the JBL's were going to be way better than the factory speakers. I have EQ flat across the board and the bass is amazing and the mid-range and tweeters sound fantastic as well.

You could spend less money and gain significant improvement over your stock speakers, or you could buy these and gain astronomical improvement! I do not even have these hooked up to an amp yet and I am still using the factory head unit, but they are fantastic. Technically speaking, these are rated for 2 ohms which means they can do more with less wattage. However, they are rated at 100w RMS which means you can gain even better sound at higher volumes with an amp.

A few recommendations if you decide on these. Buy an amp that will get you at least 80 watts RMS to each speaker. Though a little more wattage is even better. Buy an aftermarket head unit-they have better digital converters than factory HU's and will improve sound even more.

If you aren't going to get an amp to power these, I would recommend looking elsewhere. You can save yourself a lot of money buy picking up some speakers that require less power.

Wow, These are rich, deep, clean and bassy speakers. 65$ is an absolute bargain. 4 Dec. 2013
By Devin - Published on Amazon.com
Hey , I swear this is not a fake or paid BS review, these speakers paired with the 6.5 inch 3 ways and an autotek M1000.4 makes for a great system. I have a rich, clean , bassy sound in my 2005 monte carlo. I recently got a INfinity 12' 1262W subwoofer witha 300w amp and a ported box. The improvement was underwhelming. Dont get me wrong, I have more bass and it goes 10-15 db lower... but its really minimal for a 300$ investment (600w amp, kit, box, sub)
If you don't listen to Drake and jay-z or any deep deep bass artists, you don't need a sub at all. These have sufficient bass while amplified, super crisp highs and surprisingly rich mids. I'd pay 150$ for these and be happy.
Pros
JBL's 6 x 9 is the best sounding car speaker I have reviewed.

Cons
The frequency response range could use a small improvement,a little more mids, and not louder but deeper lows. .

The Verdict: 9.75/10 Excellent sound quality, sensitivity and power handling make the JBL GTO938s the most impressive car speakers I reviewed. These blow me away.

( I work at a audio install place and test/ rate/price our speakers. I consider myself a bass loving audiophile.

Outstanding Product as expected from JBL 15 May 2011

As you may not know,I use JBL speakers in my home audio system and I am pleased with the performance with them. They are a top rated pair and vintage at that(L100t). So I say that to say that these car speakers were chosen on the same merits as what I have in house. Clean, powerful and easy on the ears. When played at low levels they are just as good as when played at higher levels. I have a good clean power amplifier running them. Very sweet. As they are a part of a multi component system. Perfectly blended great specs. Sensitivity off the chain.Get a pair. Put some juice on 'em. Don' be scared. I highly recommend these speakers.
