Now, on to the shadow itself - I received Shade 06, which is a pretty mauve/purple duo. I'll admit that I used a primer before putting on the eyeshadow, which I always do. That might have helped a little. The eyeshadow itself isn't too bad, it went on easily with both finger and brush, didn't feel harsh to the eyes and while it broke up a little with application, I will say that I didn't have any fall out while applying it (which was very nice).
However, the colors aren't as concentrated as other brands I use (which tend to be high end brands such as Urban Decay, Make Up For Ever, etc.). That might be why they say 'ethereal veil of color or layer and build for dramatic impact'. It's not BAD, but just know if you want the full impact of the shade you're definitely going to have do that 'build' to get to it.
So, you get a nice matched color combo in a very handy, pretty case that shouldn't break on you without some effort, and it's a decent make up (not the greatest, but if you like an eyeshadow that you can work with, something maybe that can start out subtle and then build up), then this would be worth a try.
The shadows are soft and there is fall out. Since they're glitter based velvet touch shades, there is a little more fallout that say matte shades. They need a primer to keep them on or they will fall out too quick, Urban Decay primer potion is my favorite.
I needed a duo for my purse for touch ups but the case though beautiful and sturdy, is a little too thick to carry in a smaller purse, wish it was a little thinner.
These velvet touch shades are softer and better than drug store brands but not as super-pigmented as the luxury brands in the same price range like MAC or Urban Decay. Especially Urban Decay shades are buttery soft and highly pigmented, and you can get a palette with many more shades for a similar price. MAC 4 shade special palettes are usually the same price as this Japonesque duo so I was expecting a little more.
However, it's all about shades and these 2 shades are harder to get as a duo in some collections and if it works for you it is a nice product.
Two points of concern based on the current listing worth pointint out. One, I don't think the image is very true-to-color. These purples are warmer than the image implies. Also, the listing seems to emphasize the mineral content of these, and it should probably be noted that the first ingredient is talc.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this shadow.
The packaging is a big plus, a very nicely decorated case that is study. So you can feel like the product won't break or crack in the package should you put it in your purse to carry around. I think this is a big plus. I have the purple shade number 06. I thought the colors were very nice, and very wearable for most for either the office or evening.
The texture is a soft and buttery and they blend very well. I wasn't in love with the pigmentation. I always wear eye shadow with a primer and these lasted from 6 am in the morning until 10 pm when I washed them off at night. This compact really does a nice job at giving you a great day look. If you want something more intense I think you may need to enhance it with additional colors. While the quality and lasting power of this shadows is amazing, the pigmentation leaves something to be desired.
