Judith Gordon never thought of herself as being a creative person - as a barrister working in big companies travelling the world, she felt that creativity was for wimps. Twenty years on and three books later, she now thinks differently: 'I didn't know how fulfilling writing would be', she says, 'Nor how difficult. I mean, it can be really heartbreaking to have to find the words for some of the scenes in my books but, because I'm writing about soldiers in a savage and turbulent world, I must be true to my characters and have to steel myself to put the words on the screen. There are consolations though, because I also get to write funny scenes and, sometimes, I have the satisfaction of giving a nasty character a suitably horrible end'.
Judith likes to relax by cooking for her family and friends and loves going to the cinema with her husband, Ray and taking their whippets Hugo and Skye for walks.
She has finished Book IV in her Chronicles of Eternity series and hopes that 'Glimpses of Eternity' will be available in July 2012
