Robert Quinney and Coro have done it again with Vol.II of JS Bach's Organ Works. This is a stylish and fresh approach to these pieces (again). I didn't think that there was anything else to say about the famous Toccata and Fugue (BWV 565) but Robert Quinney plays it with a vivacious approach and particularly effective registration. Certainly not the plodding and "same ish" piece it can sometimes become.
Again, Coro have captured the Metzler organ and acoustic of Trinity College Cambridge very well. There is no harshness or blurring of sound in the recording, also helped by Robert Quinney's exceptionally articulate playing. A great disc.

Excellent recording and good performance: some notes are played shorter than I would like (tho this does give clarity to the opening of the F Toccata)
