Excellent. More Please!, 19 Jan 2005
This review is from: Izobel Brannigan.Com (Paperback)
I have worked in IT for 6/7 years now and thought this might be a bit of a mistake as reading a book like this was always going to be one of two things - either boring, as too much detail has to go into making people understand how computers work, or annoying, in that it wouldn't explain things enough or would make things fit where in real life, they wouldn't. However, I was very pleasantly surprised. I am bored on the whole with chick lit, I wanted something with wit, intelligence, a heroine/hero I could identify with, and I got it in this clever, funny little book. The technical stuff is explained properly but not in a boring, or overtechnical way. Everything that happens could happen - and could happen the way it does in the book. For this alone Christina gets top ranking with me, and she does so again with her excellent first novel. Thoroughly entertaining, funny and a first rate read. More please! Read it, you wont regret it!!

Light Throwaway Reading, 5 Oct 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Izobel Brannigan.Com (Paperback)
I bought this a few weeks ago looking for a light fun read. From the blurb I expected the pizazz of Helen fielding or the wit of Marian Keyes - I was sorely disappointed. Interesting enough plot, heroine looks herself up in a search enging and discovers a fan site dedicated to her, therest of the tale is a whodunnit hunt. Some interesting observations, a bit of wit intermitantly but on the whole pretty lame and unremarkable and filled with padding. A poor pastische on the classics of chick lit, when I described it as throwaway reading I meant simply that.

Superior Chick Lit, 8 Dec 2004

Not that I've read an awful lot, but this seemed to be much more than the girl gets the guy sort of thing. Lots of funny moments, but a real heart underpins the story about the dangers of self-googling. The characters are believable and consistent and the story moves pretty fast. And there is at least one beautiful line or memorable image every couple of pages, which is surely a better strike rate than most.
