Format: Hardcover
This is the definitive book on Iznik pottery and a 'must' for anybody interested in ceramics in general and Iznik ceramics in particular. The text is highly readable and contains a wealth of information regarding the history of the town of Iznik as a centre of Turkish ceramic production. Of equal fascination is a chapter on the manufacture and composition of the clay and further chapters on the meanings of the patterns used. Discussions of techniques, features and patterns in the text are liberally cross-referenced to the illustrations, some in black and white, a lot in high-definition, high quality colour and these alone justify the purchase of this publication. Hilary Minor, Guildford, 2001.
