Product Description

"At the dawn of things, in the eon known as the Whole, Iyetra was a complete, harmonious world and its inhabitants lived with the blessings of the gods, watched over under the authority of the Advent."

Tela Niala is a newly-ascended Advent journeyman, part of the rare subset of individuals gifted with the ability to practice and control magic. Regarded by her people as leaders and politicians, the Advent are relied upon to keep society functioning properly in the centuries after the cataclysmic Shattering destroyed their world.

Sent on a diplomatic dispatch to negotiate a treaty with a foreign government, Tela soon learns dark things have been set into motion outside of her knowledge. When a primeval enemy of demonic origin appears and threatens the lives of millions, Tela must come into her own powers not just to survive but to escape and warn her own people of the slumbering evil that's reawakening.

Iyetra is a fractured world of science and magic, demons and cultists, spread out across a cosmos populated by shattered fragments of an ancient planet.

Iyetra - Book 01: Sleeping God is the first episode in the Iyetra novella series.

Lovely 10 May 2012

JUst the right amount of sci-fi and fantasy, to make it interesting, and i don't usually read much fantasy, quite promising start of what seems a creative and very interesting series.

Excellent start 11 Feb 2011

I am generally not a sci-fi fan, but Sleeping God really drew me in with an appealing mixture of sci-fi, fantasy and political thriller. The author did a great job at introducing a rich and complex world without it ever feeling overwhelming. The pacing is good, with a nice balance of action and story. His descriptions are quite vivid and evocative, and the characters are well developed and memorable. I also like the episodic novella format. It is an excellent start to a series.

Great debut and very promising 12 Oct 2011
By MyKindleandI - Published on Amazon.com

Yes, a great debut: hence the generous five stars.

The most striking feature to me is the "setting up" for future development - you learn enough about the characters to know you want to plunge further into the world and discover more about them, about it.

Seen like that, it is a clever, polished piece of writing that shows a lot of promise.

The plot is interesting and focused: again it feels like a "warm up" for the rest, and as such is successful. The seeds are sown for Tela's impetuous nature, the mystery behind the Matriarch, and the undercurrents of tension in this universe. The action scenes are really well done, and yet not *overdone*: the sign of a writer who knows how to balance, to hold interest.

This, I would say, is one great example of the Kindle format: a chance to discover bright, talented young authors.

I'd love to see Joshua attack something meatier, too. The elements are all there.

A small PS: I am new to Kindle but an avid reader, and so enthusiastic about it I look forward to more reviewing.
