5.0 out of 5 stars Very clearly written tutorial on C++, 19 Sep 2011
This review is from: Ivor Horton's Beginning Visual C++ 2010 (Wrox Programmer to Programmer) (Paperback)
This is a great book, it is very clearly written and presented at a very comfortable pace.

One thing to mention is that you need a professional version of MS Visual Studio to really appreciate this book fully. I am using the free version of Visual Studio, which does not include the Microsoft Foundation Classes, so am unable to complete some of the Windows based examples.

This did not bother me, as I mainly bought this to learn C++, so am happy to stick mainly to console programs.

I am very happy with my progress since obtaining this book. In fact it has been one of the best things I have bought recently, as it has boosted my confidence and opened up other employment opportunities for me.

For anyone curious about programming in C++, or wanting a refresher course, this is indispensable.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great all rounder, 15 Nov 2011
This review is from: Ivor Horton's Beginning Visual C++ 2010 (Wrox Programmer to Programmer) (Paperback)
Like to say, this is a clear and well structured book. Covers all (well maybe not all) you need to know about C++ winapi as well as Visual C++. Coming from a C#.net background I picked this up within a week. For beginners I would recommend this book, invest in yourself!

This review is from: Ivor Horton's Beginning Visual C++ 2010 (Wrox Programmer to Programmer) (Paperback)
In my opinión, this book is not good enough. It try to cover so many things but none of them with enough detail.
I lost my money.
