If I am completely honest, I began reading this book simply because I had been asked to, and I should point out that I wasn't wholly looking forward to the prospect as I have never actually been a fan of poetry that doesn't rhyme! That probably doesn't make a lot of sense to most fans of poetry and certainly never has from most who I have said that to in the past; but I said would review the book and so I read on.
As I read each poem on my journey through the book, I found myself slowly but surely putting my negative subconscious thoughts to one side; and I have to say that whilst I am still not 100% happy in myself with poems that don't rhyme, even I can appreciate the amusing perspective of a Teacher's life in school that is portrayed by Helena Harper in this book!
Any Teacher, or indeed individual that has been in a school, even as a child, can appreciate the witty, often ironic, and occasionally sarcastic charm that Helena brings with her anecdotes.
All in all, a definitive thumbs up from me - 5 stars. And with that coming from someone who strongly disliked poetry altogether before reading "It's a Teachers Life!", particularly that which doesn't rhyme; if I can find it amusing, then you will certainly be entertained!
