I loved lily's 1st album and did wonder whether she could produce a 2nd album that matched it. In short - this does.
I agree with other reviewers, this is a more mature Lily but she has not lost any of her edge.
There are the usual mix of quirky, fun songs but this album also contains songs about some very thought provoking subjects = "Him" being a prime example, (questioning what god looks down and sees and what kind of person he really is). Like the 1st album, each song is distinctive and sounds different to any other music around at the moment. You can instantly tell though, that it is a Lilly Allen song, each one has her style stamped on it.
I know many people critiscise her, commenting "oh god not another song about an ex boyfriend" etc etc. I really don't know why she is critiscised for this, all good songwriters draw from life experiences when writing, think back to ABBA for example, their songs charted their lives and relationships - "Knowing me Knowing you and "Name of the game" for example are about their relationships and subsequent divorces.
I think the main thing I like about her songwriting, is that it is very honest - she wears her heart on her sleeve and isn't afraid to put very personal things about her life into music. I am looking forward to her next album already.
