As part of the popular "Vintage Beeb" range, this is a reissue of the classic 1970s vinyl LP. This was first published by BBC Records and Cassettes. It includes selected items from the "Morecambe & Wise" Television Show. Bringing us sunshine on this recording are 'Ern's magnificent body', 'A visit from the police' and Ernie's going to be 'Bob Hope's chief scriptwriter'. Other highlights from Eric and Ern's TV show from 1971 include 'The diamond ring in the window' and 'Carry on Ern'. So, what do you think of it so far...? "Vintage Beeb: Classic Albums" first available as BBC LPs, is now reissued on CD. This recording was previously released on LP in 1971 and on the cassette and CD "Morecambe and Wise: Bring Me Sunshine".

A CD re-issue of a 1971 LP, this material has been on CD before. In effect, this is more or less CD1 of the "Bring Me Sunshine" double CD. Hence, it is surprising that on this release the sound quality is very inferior, very tinny and fluctuating.
That said though, reproducing in minature the LP cover and then making the CD look like an old record (black - even including grooves) is inspired, but then all those in the Vintage Beeb collection are like this.
Good for what it is, but "Bring Me Sunshine" has the better sound quality.

Absolutely LOVE how they've re-released this old LP, it' gorgeously vintage and retro, it's obviously a CD but inside the CD is done to look like a record, black with the vinyl feel with the 'label' in the middle, it's brilliant, really take you back, and the CD of course is absolutely fantastic, could not recommend more, brilliant to finally have these BBC records on CD to enjoy, remastered, it sounds amazing, obviousy being Eric and Ernie it is just classic vintage comedy, all their best stuff, had me in creases! You don't even have to be a big fan of Morcombe and Wise, it's great to play in the car, something a bit different, I'll definitely be collecting more in the series, could not recommend more highly, brilliant quality for such a bargain price, love it!

Before video or DVD, aside from catching a repeat BBC LPs were pretty much the only way you could own a part of your favorite TV show. Slightly resequenced from the original LP, it's surprising how well this compilation of sketches from the boys' BBC TV series at the height of its popularity works as audio only, though it helps that they've gone for purely vocal routines (no plays wot Ernie wrote or musical numbers here). None of the bits are classics - there's not even a single mention of Des O'Connor - and the material certainly isn't brilliant, but its well tailored to the stars' personality and their delivery and the listeners' affection for them does the rest in making it more enjoyable than it really should be.

Great nostalgic collection
this is a great nostalgic collection from the funniest duo from my youth. A must for all 1960's baby-boomer kids.

Funny
A good selection of sketches from two of the best comedians from the UK. Very funny stuff (especially the songs) but is much funnier when watching on TV, so loses some stars... Read more
