More About the Author

Carole Matthews is the bestselling author of more than 25 hugely successful romantic comedy novels. Her unique sense of humour has won her legions of fans all over the world.

Her books, A Cottage by the Sea and Calling Mrs Christmas have both appeared in the top ten of the Sunday Times bestseller list. Her novels Welcome To The Real World and Wrapped Up In You were shortlisted for the RNA Romantic Novel of the Year award. She was also inducted into The Festival of Romance Hall of Fame for her outstanding contribution to romantic fiction.
Carole is a prolific writer of short stories, featuring in several anthologies, and has presented on television. She's also a regular radio guest.

Born in St Helens, Merseyside, Carole has always been an avid reader and dreamed of being a teacher, an air traffic controller, a travel guide or a hairdresser - writer never featured once. Leaving Liverpool for London after a torrid holiday romance in Torquay, she worked as a secretary, an ice-cream lady, a shop assistant and a beauty therapist. It was when she was working in a completely mad holistic clinic that she first thought 'one day I should write a book about this.' She still hasn't got round to it.

Entering a short story competition in Writing Magazine, the first fiction she'd written since being coerced into it at school, Carole - to her and everyone else's amazement - won a thousand pounds! Then - to her and everyone else's amazement - she spent the money, not on shoes and handbags, but on a writing course. The tutor on the course liked what she was writing and recommended an agent who took her on straight away. He sold her first book, which became Let's Meet on Platform 8, a week later.

Previously very unlucky in love, she now lives happily ever after with her partner, Lovely Kev, at Matthews' Towers in the Costa del Keynes. She likes to drink champagne, eat chocolate, bake cake and spends far too much time on Facebook and Twitter.

having read the other reviews Im a little shocked. I have read most of Carole Matthews books and have to say I thought this was brilliant. Personally speaking I think it's one of her best, It was a pleasant surprise to read about a fairy involved in a romantic novel with humour added. Well written for the adult, brings out the child in all of us.
Brilliant

I really enjoyed The Chocolate Lover's Club, and The Chocolate Lover's Diet, but I wasn't so enamoured of this one. It was enjoyable but the introduction of magic did not quite fit somehow. If you like magic in your books Christina Jones hits the right note for me.
That said I finished it and found it entertaining. Leo and his friends were realistically drawn and believable. Oddly enough I was less convinced by Emma. She did learn from her own mistakes and change by the end of the book but she wasn't quite believable. I did like some of the scenes with Isobel - the fairy - and people's reactions to her were interesting.
Not as good as the two Chocolate books, but still good light reading.

I've read all of Carole Matthews books and I found this very different to what she usually writes, but still really enjoyed it.
If you're the kind of girl who likes fairy tales then this is the book for you.

I really enjoy Carole Matthews witty style of writing but all the way through this book I was thinking what a very silly storyline. Without giving anything away (the blurb on the back of the book certainly doesn't as I probably wouldn't have bought it if I'd known), you may feel like I did after reading it and think "hmm, not one of her best".

I normally love all Carole Matthews' books and I find them humorous and a good all round read. However, I felt that this one wasn't as good as all of her others. The humour and the lovable characters were there, but I felt as if the storyline lacked the reality of her previous novels. I felt confused by the whole idea of Isobel, ie. was she real or was she a fairy? I also felt that the character of Emma was so irritating, but I warmed to her by the end of the book. I would still recommend reading this book to others, though.

I usually like Carole Matthews and especially like her chocolate lovers ones. I have to say I was disapponted with this, I thought the story was ridiculous and the parts that were supposed to be funny, eg the stuck in the box part, were just so unfunny they didnt even make me smile. I did think about giving up several times but persevered with it and now I've finished it I'm not sure why I did.

I LOVED THIS BOOK!! This is probably one of Carole Matthews best yet.

The magicial element I admit is a bit out there, but stick with it. This book had me laughing out loud in a number of places. I've read countless rom com books, there are my favourite type of books to relax with, however so much of them are the same. But this book is different, I welcome the magic with its unusual twist.

For me, this book is up there with the rom com greats such as bridget jones diary and sophie kinsella domestic goddess... I've you like these books then I recommend you read this one too.
