Finally! Buried by the BBC in the post Newsnight graveyard slot many years ago, this remains one of the great underappreciated gems of American TV comedy. Shamelessly ripped off -to much lesser comedy effect - by Channel 4's Sean's Show (even down to the deliberately witless theme song), Shandling hilariously broke down the fourth wall between audience and perfomer. 'Hey, none of you guys touch my stuff.' he warns the audience as he prepares to leave the set. The later 'Larry Saunders Show' may be more celebrated but for sheer innovation and freewheeling insanity this is the real deal.

Brilliant news this is coming out in a box set - a gem of a programme that never received the audience it deserved.
Locked away at stupid times by BBC2 schedulers who had no brains nor sense of humour. Why oh why did they not see the potential in this (but then they messed about with the Larry Sanders show too). There is one show (don't know which season) where Garry takes a journey in an "airfix" plane held on strings above the studio - genius at work. Garry Shandling take a well deserved bow.

Having seen and enjoyed this series first time around, I was more than a little apprehensive about watching it again and wondering if it had stood the test of time.I need not have been concerned and I have not been disappointed one bit because it seems even better the second time.This comedy series is as far and away from Shandlings, Larry Sanders other creation, as possible and both series should not be compared.Shandlings almost surreal interaction with the audience gives this show its real identity.The timing and performances are wonderful and I can't wait to get hold of the second series on dvd.Very much enjoyed the sequence in one of the episodes of the audience participation and demonstration of players in a big band.Absolutely hilarious.
