This is a really great movie with Meryl Streep and Alec Baldwin lighting up the screen and showing just why they are two of Hollywood's best. Meryl Streep stars as a lonely divorcee who meets up with her ex- husband at their son's graduation, and from sharing a drink at the bar they find out that they are still attracted to each other and begin the most unlikely affair as the husband is still married to the woman that broke up their marriage. What does that make the ex-wife, the other woman, another home wrecker or the woman who is taking back what was rightfully hers? So many moral and life questions are raised in this movie; how divorce affects the family life, the children, the divorced couple, and their friends. The complicated web of human relationship is beautifully portrayed and aptly titled, it is really complicated. A lot of grey areas are encountered, what shines through though is the power of forgiveness, being able to bury the past, moving on without looking back and the healing process involved in doing this.

I really enjoyed watching this movie and gained a lot of insight into the complicated web of human relationship, it is so easy to be judgemental when you see things only in black and white but this movie shifts the paradigm of ones perception and allowed for a deeper understanding into the complex nature of relationships especially marriages. The DVD comes with tons of special features - deleted scenes, feature commentary; the making of it's complicated. You can't go wrong with DVD, I recommend.

First of all, I have to say I love Mery Streep. I don't think the woman can do any wrong on screen, she's so easy to watch and I think she is such a diverse actress. It is her that really made me want to watch this film, and she is so perfect for the lead role of Jane, the woman who has finally moved on from her divorce and is really taking controlling of her life. Streep can say more in 1 look than a lot of actresses can in 500 words and she really exercises this well in this film, one lift scene sticks in my mind! She has such good chemistry with Alec Baldwin who plays her ex-husband Jake, the two are just hilarious and work so well together, his over-enthusiasm compared with her shocked and horrified reactions pair perfectly, and it is comedy gold when they really get going, from Baldwin in particular it has to be said. Baldwin is great as the charming but dim Jake who thought he had it all but quickly realises he lost everything that meant something. While you dislike Jake as a viewer, Baldwin's hilarious performance does endear you to him somewhat and while he's a pig, I couldn't help but like him a tiny bit!

I do have give kudos to Steve Martin in this film as well. He plays architect Adam, who soon becomes a love interest of Jane's, much to the anger of Jake. I did think his character was a little dull at first, nothing special and sort of faded into the background, especially compared to Baldwin's outgoing and enthusiastic performance. However, Martin really came into his own when the infamous "pot" scene comes up, involving both he and Streep. I have not laughed so hard in a long time, and even now I giggle when I think about that scene.

I went to see this with a friend of mine. We are both suckers for Meryl Streep films. This was the funniest film I have seen in a long time. The storyline as you have already seen in other reviews is about a middle aged couple who are divorced with three grown up children. There is a wonderful chemistry between Meryl Streep and Alec Baldwin and I thought the son in law was so funny I thought he stole the show at times. We laughed at this film from beginning to end and I can't wait to own the DVD. It's a film I could watch again and again. One of the funniest moments was when the Laptop was on the bed in Meryl Streep's bedroom and connected to Steve Martin at his house. It's got to be an absolute classic. If you like to laugh till you cry, this is a must see. I agree with one of the other previews Meryl Streep just gets better as she gets older.

Middle age is a very complex theme to handle but the magnificent Meryl Streep makes it look easy enough with a totally convincing portrayal of a successful business woman ,who is secure and alone after being divorced by her ex-husband of 17 years, who cheated with a younger woman ,leaving her to create a comfortable happy existence for herself inadvertently ,while he now languishes for her and wants to have her as a mistress as he is still in love with her after 10 years .

The premise is hilarious and Streep and Alec Baldwin carry on the affair for a while, with extremely delightful consequences where streep shines like a diamond ,as she seems to be getting better and better with age ,and she looks both sexy and funny in a distinguished way with great chemistry between her and the charismatic ALEC BALDWIN -who is both charming and arrongant as a confirmed womaniser .

The sexual and emotional relationships and interaction within an upper class suburban family ,with a divorced background , and three grown up kids is an exploration of contemporary life , where an intruder enters the foray as Steve Martin ,in a very under-acted subtly humourous form .

The movie has some of the best comic sequences with brilliant acting by Streep,Baldwin and Steve as they smoke dope and drive to a family date with delirious dancing in a delightful daze ,which is a must-see for everyone who likes sophisticated adult comedy sterwn with classy sexy anecdotes .

This is that rare piece of cinema where middle aged characters are given intelligent ,well sketched roles with an insight and it works on multiple levels as a social comment ,complex human behaviour and great entertainment .
