Ledisi - It's Christmas,

I bought this CD quict early on (october) as part of my 'oh-my-cod-I-can't-wait-til-Christmas' hype. It was playing in the car from 1st December and was on loop until the 6th January!
This CD is amazing. I'd never heard of her before (Amazon recommended it when I bought Jennifer Hudson) but CD was an excellent introduction. The songs are soulful, well chosen, and combine to make a flawless album. Well known songs are mixed with less known ones, which is also a plus as you already know half the words! The second song in particular is one I've not heard before, but its a foot-tapping classic that really gets into your psyche. Her version of 'What a Wonderful World' is also a gem, and very well performed. Her voice is deep and melodic, soothing yet edgy. Love it!! Recommended if you like - Jennifer Hudson, Lalah Hathaway, the Dreamgirls soundtrack, Lemar, Raphael Sadiq, etc.

What can one say about this CD? The music is simply beautiful, soulful, and addicted, all in the same breath. I can't stop listening to this CD. If you are looking for a CD to put on for the holidays for the sophisticated crowd that loves real music with heart, this is the one to put on. The entire CD is on point. This CD showcases Ledisi in her finest form from R&B to spiritual to jazz. Don't miss out on this experience.

I first heard Ledisi on the movie "Leatherheads" and it was love at first sight and sound. She's bound to be an R&B diva for years to come. And instead of giving us a re-tread album full of traditionals, she's got five brand new songs for her holiday CD.
"Thank You" is a paean to gratitude and joy. You will be smiling through Christmas traffic jams if you put this song in your CD player. "I'll Go" is a hymn of joy and dedication (or rededication). The choir backing this song has the most gorgeous tight harmony I've heard in a song time. "Give Love on Christmas" is a slow groove that's going to be another romance special. "Be There for Christmas" is a song about celebrating love. It will make you want to get up and dance! "This Christmas (Could be the One)" is the song full of longing for a lover far away. All of these songs are music you are going to hear year after year. I suggest you get this CD and learn them all now. You're not going to get tired of them. I have a collection of 125 Christmas CDs from all genres of music. The season doesn't start in our home until the first 10 are played, led by BeBe and CeCe Winans' "First Christmas". Next year, Ledisi's takes first place !! This CD is soulful, cheerful, reverent, and a soon-to-be classic.
