You know when you buy an album and you kind of expect it to be pretty good but not that good! That`s how I felt when I ordered this LP knowing these recordings featured the Denise Kaufman (of Denise and co. fame) responsible for "Boy, what`ll you do then" the amazing classic girl punk gem! Well that track`s here and it sure is a killer but the rest truly holds it`s own! Like many comps it plays it`s hand a little too early. The first seven tracks simply contain some of the finest music to have emerged from SF in the late 60`s and all from previously unreleased demos no less! The opening track "Music" is truly lovely ( recorded acapella- but this ain`t no Flying Picketts trip!) For the aforementioned "Boy" words are not enough! "Glue" buy it, buy it, it`s bad for you but buy it! Sweet ballad "taste of one" Rocker "Stones" where they declare they`re in love with the Rolling Stones "cos their grass is greener!" "looking for my man" and Mongo Santamaria`s "Afro Blue". The rest is good- don`t get me wrong but I still love these the most! If you like your music raw, wild and truly evocative of another era just buy this album- Your CD player deserves it!
