I bought this book as a stocking filler for my brother who lives in Germany and teaches English as a global lanquage to mature students. He is always looking for meanings to the language and this was a huge success.

if you like the spoken word then this book is a must. it a literary masterpiece of interesting facts and words.

I am very surprised and almost elated that the author of this book has managed to convey the
fascinating topic of linguistics in an non patronising non pretentious way for all to enjoy.
