I think that my opinion on this album may be biased due to my unforgiving love of Halloween, but Santa Hates You really brought out the spirit of the dark holiday with their new release of "It's Alive!"
The intro will bring you back to old fashioned horror movies, specifically Frankenstein, and sets the mood for the rest of the album with the sounds of pouring rain and lightning bolts. Right after, you are smashed straight into the grit of the album with "Independence," which isn't too harsh of a song, a little more lax than a few of their other songs, and not so Holiday oriented as the rest of the songs, but still manages to give you a kick in the ass.
Scum then comes along, which gets you really pent up, and which has a lot of humorous, albeit stinging political and cultural statements. It's a great song to listen to before getting into an argument with a coworker or friend or relative right before talking about current political developments, but just be aware that it is extremely visceral and will leave you wanting to punch a kitten in the face.
The rest of the album then wanders straight off into the Halloween theme, having "How to Create a Monster", "Rise!", "Are You Scared", "Fight Truth Decay", "Slightly Dead", "Skeletal Parade", and "It's Alive!" It's a great album for Halloween parties, but also just a fun album altogether to listen to when you just wanna get in that spooky mood.
