There was really only one reason I bought this DVD - it stars James Murray of Primeval fame.
From reviews I'd read, it appeared that he was not in the movie very much, but to my delight, he is in nearly every scene. The movie is missing several scenes previously shown in the early trailers, and these aren't included on the DVD, which is a shame, I would have been interested to know why they were cut from the final print. Bijou actually puts in an okay performance, playing the overwrought new mother very well, and James is fine as the doting father given an impossible choice to make.
I wouldn't actually class this movie as a horror, despite the over-the-top supposedly gory bits. They are so daft as to pass practically unnoticed. Rather this is a movie about new parents discovering that parenthood isn't easy or as straightforward as you'd expect. Gigantic plot holes aside, when the actors were given a chance to act they do it well, and as previously stated, with James Murray on show in nearly every scene, it was well worth my money.
