This review is from: Italy: Perfect places to stay, eat and explore (Time Out Italy: Perfect Places to Stay, Eat, & Explore) (Paperback)
This is not worth buying, save yourself the money. The Time Out guide went to print in 2008 and there's no confirming that beforehand, so the hotel and dining suggestions are already out of date. It only dedicates roughly 14 pages per city, half of which are photos and pathetic maps, so really you're only getting 7 pages of content for an entire city. That's history/background, hotels, sites, restaurants, shopping, etc. As you can tell, that is nowhere near enough info.
What I would suggest is buying the individiual city guides that Time Out prints. For a previous trip, I had purchased Time Out Barcelona and it was an irriplaceable guide, absolutely fantastic! Plus, I might add, easier to carry as it was slimmer and lighter. My suggestion is to avoid the Time Out country-wide guide and buy the individual city guides. If I can suggest a better country-wide guide for Italy, go with Frommers Italy Day by Day, it's fantastic! It's 750 pages full of content and history, but also easily accesible info. There are suggested 1-2-3 day itineraries for the larger cities (Rome, Florence, Venice, for example) and then also suggested maps of getting around The Duomo, The Roman Forum, etc.
