The Michelin maps of France are the best maps I ever came across, unfortunately maps of other countries vary widely. We'd travelled happily for something like 10 years with a german edition of the Michelin Atlas Italy - until we had to face the fact, that it had become obsolete.
When we discovered this 2010 british edition we ordered it without hesitation. We found things had changed quite a bit: for the good, as the scale of 1:200 000 is better. But from then on it's not so good: the general impression when I opened the atlas was "foggy", as it's by far not as clear and bright as our oldie. Although the key gives the usual signs for touristic sights, they hardly ever appear on the maps. We love to travel the smallest country roads, so every detail is important. Unfortunately quite often I found the name of a village on the map but no corresponding dot - or vice versa a dot and no related name.
After only one day of travelling with the new atlas we gave up, too nerv racking when all you want is driving leisurly through the beautiful country side. Full of repentance we dug out our oldie. Despite all the changes over the years, it's still better and easier to travel with. We cannot recommend to purchase the 2010 Atlas, new as it might be.
