Excellent,

This review is from: Italianissimo Beginners' New Edition Language Pack with Cds (Paperback)
I learnt italian with the first edition of this pack, and I've bough the second edition for revision.
The course focuses on practical tasks - introducing yourself, ordering drinks, reserving a hotel room etc rather than the 'chapter-1-definite-article-and-the-present-tense' type approach of old-fashioned courses. Personally I prefer that even if it means some of the 'jumping about' that an earlier reviewer complained about. I like the fact that the programme generally uses dialogues between real Italians rather than text read by an actor which always sounds artificial. If you are a real absolute beginner then you might want to start with the BBC's Talk Italian course.

This review is from: The Italianissimo: Beginners No.1 (Paperback)
This language package works well as the contents of the cassettes follows the chapters in the book. As well as introducing the basics in speaking and listening to Italian, it also introduces the grammer neccessary to understand all aspects of the language. At first the speakers on the cassettes seem difficult to understand, but as you re-listen and repeat, they become clearer and you can chart your progress with the language.

Very good text to start learning Italian to a more challenging level than other books for an English speaker,
This review is from: The Italianissimo: Beginners No.1 (Paperback)
Good text book to learn Italian and to listen to tapes but it would be great if the BBC version on video couild be put for sale too in order to have a complete learning pack. Overall is a good text and easy to study in a class setting
