I collect Spaghetti Western soundtracks, mainly Ennio Morricone, but Luis Bacalov is up there with the best when it comes to composing soundtracks. An invaluable collectors CD that includes the classic Django main titles along with a few other bits from the soundtrack.

If Ennio Morricone is the ackowledged king of the Italian Western soundtrack, Luis Bacalov is part of his court circle. He provided music for two classic Westerns which feature here: the bleak, brutal Django and the more thoughtful Quien Sabe?/Bullet for the General.

There is a good variety of music on this disc, exciting, reflective, even humourous. The only complaint is that all the 'plums' form the early tracks and the quality does taper off towards the end. It's worth buying for the two classics but don't expect any undiscovered treasures.

This guy is a great composer (listen to Il Postino and The Assination Tango soundtracks). I think I would have preferred a better selection but it is, unfortunately, difficult to get his works in this country.

for those who saw all spagetti western movies this cd brings you at home the atmosfhere of the spagetti western in your home.
It is an original soundtrack and you can combine it with other musik/books/films of the genre.
Nice it is of course in combination with the music of ennio morricone and for thosewho are interested in the genre there are written and illustrated books over the spagetti western history. Google to "spagetti western buch" and you find all the information (in german language) over the genre.
Other interesting titles are "Joe hembus western lexicon" and exeter library "the screen greats Clint Eastwood" which provides some nice illustrated information about the spagetti western and it importance for the career of major hollywood actor Clint Eastwood.
Customers can comment on this review and when they know more nice illustrated books on spagetti western and the western in general i would be interested in that too.
