Not good, not bad - it's just there nothing else available on the subject 27 May 2007
By Dmitri - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
Heikell is still having some sort of a monopoly on that subject. So if you are going to sail in that water, you could not avoid this book. There is simply nothing else! Despite the fact that it's professionally done with a lot of research and work behind it, I found it very limited on human insights. And if there are any, it tends to be all the same ("the port is very crowded - don't go there") comments. I still remember my Greece sailing experience (wonder who is the author of The Greek Water Pilot You bet, - Heikell) - if I would following Heikell suggestions we would never anchor in "extremely crowded" port of Hydra, and we would miss one of the most beautiful Greek islands, everybody still remember. Everything is crowded in Mediterranean. If it's bothers you, don't go there!

Thorough and practical 27 Aug 2010
By Nadine Slavinski - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
We used this pilot book extensively while based out of Sardinia for over a year and it guided us to many excellent destinations. Compared to other pilot books, Heikell's books are very easy to use and organized. He gives a concise run-down of every port and anchorage without getting loaded down in detail that is difficult to read through. Once you get the hang of the chapter layout, you will quickly be able to thumb to the page you need either in planning or actual use. We were also impressed with the quality of the binding; our copy has stood up well to much abuse and exposure. Your experience might not mirror Heikell's every time, but you will find him to be a dependable resource. The introductory sections that include weather trends and radio forecasts are also concise and invaluable.
