Italian National Cinema will give you a relativly concise explanation of definition of a countries national cinema. There is an exstensive history of Italian movements from the Fascist period through neorealism and well into the modern day. This book is a firm base from which to start research into Italian film history and theory. Plus the language within is not verbose making it good for a begginer in film studies.
