The meat baller makes a good size of meatball, nut stuffing ball or falafel. It's easy to dig into the mixture and pick up a suitable amount. The mixture holds its shape well when it is released from the scoop; if it's at all loose then it is easily rolled between water-damped palms.
Clean-up is straightforward and it dries without a hint of rusting.
Very useful for making evenly-sized, well-shaped savoury items. My wife has tried using it for shaping cake pops (chill the crumbled cake and frosting mixture well if trying this) but the cake balls are a little too small to take the usual amount of decoration or size of popstick. It's useful for making a good, tidy base cake pop around which to mould more mixture by hand but it isn't a time-saver in this case unless you were preparing a large number of cake pops.

Wishing to make a large batch of cakepops (again!) I was looking for something that would maybe speed up the time taken and also help with consistent shaping. Having read previous reviews I was a little unsure about this tool, as one in particular made reference to cakepops and that this was not large enough. I took a chance and am delighted with the results.
The diameter of each half ball (exactly like a melon baller) is 35mm and I personally feel that this is a perfect size to place on a 4" lollipop stick. I don't think it saved me much, if any time however, as the join in the two halves was visible and being a perfectionist I found myself removing the cake ball (easily as it is non-stick) turning and re-balling. Minor adjustments still made for a batch of very consistent cake balls and I also felt that it pressed the mixture together much more firmly than I do by hand.
My only criticism would be that when making a large batch, the scissor style handles are rather thin and so became a little uncomfortable

Used this item for the first time yesterday. Perfect.
The meat did not stick (as promised) made a whole tray of evenly sized round balls in about 5 minutes. If you like making your own meatball you will love this item.

Great for biscuits!
I love it. I use it for making biscuits. No messy fingers and all the biscuits are the same size. And it really is non stick, even with my oat and honey biscuits.

Meatballer/cake pop maker
I bought this to make cake pops, easy quick way to make nice round pops at a consistent size, though it does leave a bit of a Saturn ring which you can smooth out afterwards.
