Book Description

1 Nov 2012

If every therapist and psychotherapist on the planet could repeat this to their clients, like a mantra, again and again, there would be fewer therapists and psychotherapists. Because it works. Very quickly. Realising that what you're worrying about and stressing over doesn't really matter so much in the grand scheme of things is the door to freedom and healing. And the little profanity 'F**k It' is the key to that door. Ask anyone who's come close to death, or lost someone close to them, or discovered they have a serious disease and they'll say the same thing: that the little things don't matter, F**k It... enjoy life in every moment for what it is, not what you want it to be... worry less, live more... remember what's important and forget the rest.

John and Gaia have taught F**k It Retreats in Italy and around the world since 2005. They have taught thousands of people how to say F**k It: how to ease up, let go, and feel the natural flow in their lives. F**k It Therapy makes available for the first time the process they teach during their week-long retreats. With their six-part process, you are guided through how to deeply relax and let go, then how to carry this out into your life. You find out about the F**k It State and how to access it, you learn the principles of F**k It Training and then discover what F**k It Living really is, and how you can live every moment in a free, relaxed and F**k It way.

More About the Author

John C. Parkin, the son of Anglican preachers, realised that saying F**k It was as good as all the eastern spiritual practices he'd been studying for 20 years. Having said F**k It to a top job in London, he escaped to Italy to set up the retreat centre The Hill That Breathes, where he now teaches regular 'F**k It Weeks' with his wife Gaia. He has been featured on T.V., such as The Graham Norton Show, and in the national press, including The Guardian, The Observer, The Times, Psychologies, Cosmopolitan and Red Magazine.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thoughtful and witty 5 Nov 2012
Buy this book if : working hard, focusing on and meeting your objectives and striving to reach your goals has left you exhausted and dissatisfied; life just isn't working for you and your family; you're feeling crappy, despite sticking rigorously to an exercise and diet regime (again); you have a mate who's into all that mumbo-jumbo spiritual stuff (and it seems to be working for them) but it'd take a tranquilliser dart to get you within a mile of a meditation class; you're an accountant who dreams of being a pilot; you feel there must be something more to life than THIS!

I love this book, but must confess up front to being biased. A couple of months ago I went on a F.It week in Urbino, recommended by a personal trainer who incorporates Qigong into his training. I'd just lost my (strived for, focused on, well-paid and very senior) job, my Mum had terminal cancer and I was majorly stressed out. I had no clue what F.It therapy was, I didn't read the Ultimate Spiritual Way book, I was just attracted to the name - any retreat that has the F word in it is going to be pretty irreverent, therefore avoiding the possibility that I'd have to chant at the moon, eat sprouted mung beans for breakfast and share that experience with so-super-sorted-they're-intimidating people. Thank's to John and Gaia I now have perfectly written up notes in the form of this book to dip into and refresh my memory of an awesome week.

The book does a good job of meeting its objective - to impart the knowledge shared on a F.It retreat, and in that respect it is very thorough, feels substantive and not a flakey "one-idea done to death" read. The prison analogy works well, and Gaia's magic peppered throughout lifts it and complements John's witty writing.

1.0 out of 5 stars Waffly 15 Feb 2014
I was very disappointed by this book - it's mainly waffle, with very little of interest. There are a lot of waffly stories which the author then waffles on about. It's incredible that the author can fill up a volume with so little of substance - my copy is going straight to the charity shop.

Don't bother or waste your time with this book. Absolute stream of consciousness writing and of no value. Juvenile and of no use. Save your money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Makes so much sense! 17 Dec 2012

I've read John's other book and found that a great tool for keeping life in perspective, so I had to read this too. It's more in depth and it covers more ground than the first book. I've read a LOT of self-help books and this is one of the very few that I would recommend. Its certainly helped me!

3.0 out of 5 stars Simple, fun and challenging 26 Nov 2012
This is a lot of fun - easy to read and full of exciting thinking. But, it is surprisingly long, a little self indulgent at times and so irritating to have a mixture of English and US spelling and terminology. But there are some great practical tips to try out for a more fulfilling life.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fxxk It Therapy Goes Large 5 Nov 2012
Had such fun reading this new publication from the Fxxk It team. It will never replace 'being there' and participating in the wonderful retreats but certainly delivered on humour, wit and relevant insight to a different way of handling the rollercoaster that is everyday life. Fxxk It Therapy was a great reminder of what I had forgotten from my time spent with the entertaining Mr Parkin and the spiritual Mrs Parkin. Once you've said Fxxk It - there's no going back - read it, believe it, do it, love it. Lady Sausage

1.0 out of 5 stars Perhaps improves over it's 300 pages? 9 Jun 2014

Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I bought this book as a gift for a family member and decided to have a read to check whether I'll be labeled as a rubbish gift giver as a result. I'm only on page 12. Unfortunately the use of gross gender generalisations, and the CONSTANT use of capitals rather than thoughtful structure to emphasise it's points, has left me wondering whether to continue with this book. If my relative informs me it's changed their life I will be amazed. A box set of Faulty Towers would do the job this book appears to set out to do, with the humorous insights I've found this so far lacks.

1.0 out of 5 stars What a load of Cr*p! 1 Jun 2014
By Mark D
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Take the basic elements of Taoism and Buddhism. Add on some New Age nonsense. Then a bit of hipster laid backness and a seasoning of quantum woo-woo. Give it a slightly racey title and Result!

Save your money. Go down the local charity bookshop and pick up anything off of the New Age / self help shelf.
