Book Description

21 May 2010
Romantic and erotic fiction at its finest. Stella is blessed with great beauty, but it brings her more unhappiness than she could ever believe possible. At seventeen, she falls deeply, happily in love and life is simple. Marrying her first love, Paul, the world is wonderful and full of eager expectations, especially after the birth of their baby son, Jon. But suddenly Stella's world is shattered and her heart broken, when Paul leaves her for another woman. Stella meets a Latin charmer named Pete and finds with him a passion so strong that it shocks her. However, the relationship has a dark side that is frightening, yet fascinating. There seems to be no escape from Pete's increasingly ardent demands. When Steve enters her life, Stella wonders if this gentle, caring man has come to her rescue. He is wealthy and so different from Pete. He gives her tender affection and a feeling of security. Both her lovers are powerful men in their own way and each is determined to possess her body and soul. Stella finds a true friend in Jill, who helps her through all her problems. Her first love, Paul keeps returning to her life, adding to her dilemmas. Does Stella make the right decisions? Author Diane Griffith blends real locations and incidents into her romantic fiction. She has just completed her second novel, A Moment to Remember, inspired by her childhood sweetheart in Wales. She is retired and now lives in Cyprus. Publisher's website:

More About the Author

I was born in Aberdeen, Scotland, spent my childhood in Wales being of a Welsh mother and grew up in Merseyside, England. I inherited my late father's Liverpudlian humour and positive attitude to life. By speaking Welsh and English as a child I believe it helped me to learn the Greek Language. Now I live in Paphos, Cyprus with my husband Tony. Sadly my lovely mother, Eleanor, who lived with us here for 5 years, passed away on 4th July 2010 aged almost 90.
I have one son, Jamie Lambert who is a singer/guitarist and had a cafe/bar, in The Philippines. He has recently returned to live in Cyprus with his lovely wife.
I have been married four times, which shows that if at first I don't succeed...

I wrote 'Chasing Dreams in Lefkas,' a true adventure story set on a Greek island.
For us it was a way out of a depressing situation that many people two decades later are facing. I hope my book will encourage them to take a challenge and do something that they might never have done. Then they can look back and say," I'm glad we had that recession," or, at least it might make them smile!

This MS lay in our attic since I wrote it in 1992 when the memories were fresh in my mind.
In 2008 my Greek teacher suggested that I send it to a Literary Agency in the USA. To my delight it was accepted, and published by AEG Publishers that same year. - It was my first attempt at writing, because I simply wanted to tell our story. I could have written it a lot better these days with modern technology. - My writing has improved since then, but sadly the situation of redundancies has not...

I have made some corrections 20th July 2013 to the Kindle Edition - The book was written in 1992.(the hard way)I could not afford to have the paperback version corrected, since the proceeds small as they are, help me to save dogs and cats.

"It Mattered Yesterday" is a romantic, sensual story based on my life, so it is written from my heart.
Since it is based in Liverpool from 60's to 80's with all the memorabilia of the time, it was mentioned on Radio Merseyside/City in January 2011.
It is about people and feelings. And, about not giving up hope. If you have a will to go on, you can overcome the very darkest hour. What mattered so desperately at the time simply becomes a memory. It only mattered yesterday.

'The Little Christmas Angel' is a continuation of 'It Mattered Yesterday' but it could be read first as the story refers back to events in that book. The only possesion that Stella took with her from the grand house was the little angel that her son Jon had made at school when he was ten and given to her at Christmas. This story continues mainly with events in Jon's life and how it affects Stella. It has the same characters, but set in Cyprus. It is also based on true events and situations.
Continuation of 'It Mattered Yesterday'
'The Little Christmas Angel'

"A Moment to Remember, To Forgive, Divine" is another romantic fiction, for anyone who has loved and lost.
Each character has their own voice, and contributes to the overall storyline. It captures the essence of childhood, first love, heartbreak and tangled complications of love within a family life. The blend of Welsh countryside and Liverpool makes an interesting setting.

My book for young children is called, "Granny's Magic Garden." Is also available on Amazon and Amazon Kindle.
Trailer video link:

Fairies, Pixies and many other fantasy characters enchant children as they listen to stories about Granny's Magic Garden.
George, and Freddie share the same Daddy as Harvey and Saffie, so they are a special sort of family. All of them love to hear stories from their Granny about the mystical things that go on in her garden during the night. Also, some amazing things sometimes happen when they play in her garden during the day. Children can join George, Freddie, Harvey and Saffie as they explore the wonders of Granny's Magic Garden.

I began telling the stories found in this book to my own grandchildren when they were aged from 4 years to 8 years. They enjoyed them so much that I wanted to share them with other children.
It was a way of teaching, without 'telling'. They learnt reasons to do good things and why not to do bad things, from the actions of the fantasy characters. They learnt simple lessons in behaviour with laughter, at some of the funny things that some of the characters like the silly fair, Dirty Gertie says and does.
All children love magic and mystery and most of all humour. This book encourages reading as the print is easy to read and the stories are easy to follow.
I hope children everywhere will enjoy the stories found in Granny's Magic Garden.
All my books are available on Amazon and Kindle as well as B&N.

'Nobody's Pets In Cyprus' is a collection of stories about some of the dogs and cats I have rescued during the last 5 years. It shows how I have used the proceeds from my books to give them a better life.

I love all animals, and it is distressing to see so many abandoned dogs and cats here. One poor starving hunting hound, I called Fido, has now found a forever home in Berlin. He has even appeared on German TV! You can see his story in 'Nobody's Pets In Cyprus' KINDLE, and on Diane Griffith Animal Rescue Facebook Page:

Product Description

From the Publisher

This is a compelling fictinal story of deep emotons and tangled relationships. There are twists and turns to sustan the events throughout the tale.

In some parts it is sensual and steamy, but there is also tender affection and true friendship, running through the whole theme.

The story is a jigsaw of one young woman's life, although many other people are intimately involved. The disjointed pieces fit together smoothly, so that in the end, it presents a beautiful picture that the reader feels happy with.

There is a lot of conflict and dialogue, the characters tell the story, so cme vividly to life. It tells of family life like it is, complete with all the squabbles, humor and tenderness.

Women of all ages will be able to relate to Stella, who is the main character, and live and breath all of her emotins.

They will also feel for her son Jon, who is portrayed from a baby, throughout his childhood, and adolescence to young adulthood.

From the Author

Since I grew up in Liverpool and also lived on the Wirral I have set this book in those areas from the early 60's to the 80's with all the memorabilia of that time.

I have combined real people and situations in my life, with real locations.

My message is, that if you have a will to go on, no matter what, you can overcome the darkest hour.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Tender, Poignant Romance Tale 29 Aug 2011
After marrying her first love, Paul, and having a baby son, it doesn't seem that life can get any better for young Stella; however, when Paul leaves her for another woman, Stella's once idyllic world is soon filled with unimaginable heartbreak and pain. Eventually, Stella falls for a Latin charmer named Pete, with whom she shares an almost overpowering passion. The only problem? Pete's increasingly demanding ways, which begin to fill Stella with a growing sense of dread and uncertainty. So, when the wealthy, gentle, doting Steve comes into her life, Stella suddenly finds herself torn between her rival affections for both men - which is only further complicated by Paul's unexpected return. In light of all her options, will Stella ultimately make the right choice...?

Deeply heartrending, It Mattered Yesterday is a tender, poignant romance tale. With well developed, true-to-life characters, author Diane Griffith has crafted a compelling story of love, heartbreak, and ultimate redemption in the face of life's often unpredictable challenges. A creative mix of fact and fiction (based on Griffith's own real life experiences), It Mattered Yesterday serves as a stirring reminder of the happiness that we can achieve with just a little measure of faith, hope, and well-placed trust. Quite the endearing read.

5.0 out of 5 stars It mattered yesterday 13 July 2011

A wholly satisfying read!
I enjoyed reading this book and felt as though I understood all of the main character, Stella's emotions.
It is a stirring story of romance and passion with the gentle friendship between Stella and Jill making all the right ingredients for a heart-warming novel.
It was oozing with atmosphere and nostalgia for the varying decades.- I particularly liked the references to places in Merseyside, and the songs of those eras... The writing came to life and the story line was easy to follow. I felt they were real people grappling with real dilemmas with humour, anger, and human weakness. An interesting tale of love and family, with the feelings of a mother for her child adding a special touch.

2.0 out of 5 stars unbelievable - and not in a good way! 7 May 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
A truly incredible read; there can't be many women who have marriage proposals after just a few dates, from EVERY man they date. I found the poor spelling and English really distracting: someone's son was "dyslectic", for example. Words to songs were quoted incorrectly; go look them up on tinternet if you must use them!
I selected this book to read partly because of previous good reviews, and partly because of the setting - Liverpool, late 50s to more recent times- so I thought it might be interesting; eventually it, and especially the central character(how naive can you be?) just irritated me.
