Product Description

Synopsis

Ryan is scared to use the potty. He's afraid to have a poop because he's afraid it's going to hurt. When Ryan's parents take him to visit Dr. Gold, she engages his imagination with the story of Bill the Coyote's messy house. She also shows him what happens inside the body, and explains how different foods make using the potty easy or hard. This story, along with Ryan's "poop program," will help young children gain the confidence they need to overcome this common problem and establish healthy habits.

Spot on! 2 April 2009
Format:Paperback
I bought this last week for my 4 year old who was having real trouble with his No 2s! The book is spot on for the problem he was having, ie it hurt him so he was scared to go so held on for ages which made it hurt etc etc. The book is a story within a story about how rubbish builds up and my son loved it, had to read it 3 times over straight away! It wasn't an instant success but two days later the penny seemed to drop and now he's mad keen on going to the toilet and gets disappointed if there isn't a No 2 to do!! Highly recommended if like me, you're running out of ideas to help your child understand how it all works! A bit pricey I know but well worth it in my opinion.

Bought this book for my 3 and a half year old as he was withholding and getting really stressed about going to the loo...and stressing us all out too. It's the best money I've ever spent. He read it twice the first day and the following morning got up and grabbed the book and said he needed to go to the loo...and did! 4 weeks on, we still use the book occassionally when he needs a reminder but the change in his behaviuor is huge and he understood the book straight away - perfect for 3-4 year olds and a great relief to have found such a simple solution to our problems. The only downside is the American language 'trash', 'poop', etc but a bit of rewording was easy and well worth it for the positive effect.

My son liked the story (from age 2.5yo when I bought it) - we kept it by the potty and he kept asking to read it. Quite possibly helped him recognise the feelings of needing to go (now 3y9m and still occasionally talks about the 'poke in tummy with stick' feeling) and realise what it's all about, though didn't obviously 'do the trick' and help him to easily use the potty/toilet. There are some good bits to the book, like the illustrations showing how poo is the waste left over from food, but I didn't like the American language (though easily substituted for British terms when reading through) nor some of the illustrations (sepia shades in the middle, when relating Bill the Coyote's story of 'trash' in his house.
