Book Description

When 29-year-old Binki Grayson is offered a Christmas bonus by her boss at the office party she didn't imagine he meant a quickie over his desk. Things for Binki just go from bad to worse and by Christmas Day she is not only jobless but boyfriend-less, so when she discovers her late Aunt Vera has left her something in her will she thinks things can only get better. What she doesn't realise is that her inheritance comes with a complication by the name of William Ellis.

A mishmash of misunderstandings, sex-shop escapades, high finance and a blooming romance make It Had to Be You another hilarious romantic comedy by the uproarious Lynda Renham.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a fabulously funny book 6 April 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I don't think I've laughed out loud as much reading a book. My family think I've gone mad. If you like Sophie Kinsella, Millie Johnson books this is better with some really funny moments. If you need a lift for whatever reason then this is the book for you, it covers every emotion.

Loved it! I so look forward to reading Lynda Renham books because I know I will never be disappointed. One of my favourite comedy-romance authors who consistently delivers a wealth of entertaining storylines and brilliantly-written dialogue. Such great characters that kept me hooked throughout, and I even found myself humming It Had To Be You all the way around the supermarket recently because this book has obviously stuck in my mind. Wonderful as always.

4.0 out of 5 stars Hysterically funny, witty and mood-lifting! 14 Jun. 2014
By Kiran
Format:Paperback
Summer’s here, the sun’s out, the birds are chirping and everyone has their sunnies and flip flops out! To mark the coming of summer, there are some amazing summer reads out and one of these happens to be Lynda Renham’s hysterically funny, witty and mood lifting novel ‘It Had To Be You’. Lynda’s forte has always been humorous romances and she does not fail to impress this time around with her latest offering.

‘It Had To Be You’ is hapless heroine Binki Grayson’s story. Binki is down on her luck as on a particularly disastrous Christmas Eve, her life unravels. After being sexually propositioned by her odious boss, she is fired unceremoniously when she turns him down in no uncertain terms. On coming home early, she finds her boyfriend Oliver ‘in flagrante delicto’ with his own boss in their shared apartment! Out of work and out of a boyfriend, Binki leaves the apartment she shared with Oliver to find solace with her parents. Once there, she discovers that she has inherited a house from her deceased Aunt Vera. However, Aunt Vera, it seems did not quite make up her mind and has also left the house to her financial advisor, the rich, handsome and infinitely arrogant William Ellis.

Unfortunately for Binki, William has already made his home in ‘Driftwood’, the house that Aunt Vera bequeathed to one of them and what follows is a story of comic mishaps, dodgy dealings, jilted lovers, sex shop shenanigans and loads and loads of chocolate (for those of us who love chocolates).

Binki is a loveable, scatty heroine who does not fit the size zero ideal. She loves her chocolate and is charmingly self-deprecating.

5.0 out of 5 stars Book Review: It Had To Be You 7 July 2014
Format:Paperback
Another five star read from Lynda Renham. This book should come with a warning - reading this may give you a stitch from laughing so hard. If you're feeling low you won't be for long - laughter is therapy, right?

Only Lynda could come up with someone as misfortunate as Binki. Someone who could lose her job, get a parking ticket and lose her boyfriend all in one day and just before Christmas. Of course, when Binki finds out about her inheritance the process is far from smooth. You gotta love Binki, with a name like that, what would you expect? A character we can identify with she loves chocolate and is an ordinary, down to earth, everyday girl and eats when stressed. Sound familiar? The book has all the typical chick-lit ingredients, the domineering boyfriend, the bossy best friend, the hunk and his stick insect, bitchy girlfriend. There may be cliches and stereotypes but we can forgive when presented with such an 'unputdownable' and funny piece of fiction. I didn't want to finish the book because I didn't want it to end but I could not put it down because I wanted to know what happened next. A real page turner.
