Reviews

The self-styled 'boys to entertain you' are back in the last series of It Ain’t Half Hot Mum.

The not-so-talented, but ever versatile, lads of the Royal Artillery troupe of entertainers are ready to take their final bow before they return to England to await 'demob'. But not before they step out with more hilarious and unlikely adventures as reluctant heroes in the steamy heat of the Burmese jungle.

Contains the complete eighth series of this hilarious BBC comedy. Includes the digitally re-mastered episodes:

Gloria’s Finest Hour • Money Talks • Aquastars The Last Warrior • Never the Twain Shall Meet The Long Road Home • The Last Roll Call

Written by Jimmy Perry and David Croft
Produced by David Croft
Starring Windsor Davies, Melvyn Hayes, Donald Hewlett, Michael Knowles, Don Estelle, John Clegg, Christopher Mitchell, Stuart McGugan, Kenneth MacDonald, Mike Kinsey, Dino Shafeek and Andy Ho with Rikki Fulton, June Whitfield, John D Collins and Henry McGee.

I could vaguely remember this sitcom from my youth, so it's been a pleasure buying these as they get released and living through it all over again. This final series sees the end of the war, the rounding up of a rogue Japanese soldier who still believes the war is on and the concert party heading home. Of course Sgt Major Williams won't accept the end is nigh and still screams and shouts right up until the bitter end. I got quite emotional during the final episode. Now I'm going to have to watch it all again!

As with all of the previous DVD's in this series, this one is first class. Good harmless comedy when comedy meant comedy, and not the so called comedy of today littered with four letter words and totally un-necessary sexual comments. We'll soon be at an end with the series, but always worth watching a second and third time. But if my memory serves me correctly, didn't Michael Bates sadly pass away and was unable to complete a series, as for me, he was the star of the show/series. Highly recommended to fans of a certain age, and some of todays youngsters ought to give it a try too, I'm sure they would be hooked.

Another wonderful series following the trials and tribulations of an over-the-top British army concert party in India and Burma during World War Two. From the same stable as Dad's Army and 'Allo 'Allo and so many more by Jimmy Perry and David Croft.

Bought the previous 7 series as they came out. This series was the last series of it ain't half hot mum, and the last episode of this series shows the concert party going their separate ways after being shipped back from India.
