5.0 out of 5 stars Refreshingly Different, 24 Feb 2008
By T. Stubbs - See all my reviews

This album is so different to the majority of tedious nonsense on the radio these days. Even if you don't like it, you have to appreciate it. But there are plenty of reasons TO like it as it walks a careful tightrope between avant-garde experimentation and melodic pop sensibilities....in this way it reminds me of Eno's Before And After Science. Like that also, it sounds like a record that won't ever sound dated. You'll never believe that a trumpet can do half the things it does on this album, such is it's versatility. Wielded in conjunction with the idiosyncratic vocals(which incidentally do not sound quite as much like Mark E Smith as everyone says),it's the kind of music one wishes could top the charts.....though what kind of strange and exotic world would contain such a Top 40 is anyone's guess.

4.0 out of 5 stars Krautrock grooves, 12 Mar 2008
By Chris Kerridge - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
On first listen to this second album on the White heat label from One more Grain I was at first struck by how simple but how memorable songs could be.From start to finish I loved this album. It grooves along setting each mood perfectly with an almost sort of Doorish mood to each song as D P Quinns spoken monologue carries the song even further.
Its good to have a sense of humour which is something Quinn has.It also reminded me of I,Ludicrous from the 80s..Great stuff
