I think this is a cracking wee series to be blatantly honest.

I am not a fan of ITV and generally their nature type programmes aren't all that.

This time is different. Martin Clunes' personality is used to great effect when it comes to this subject of islands and his willingness to get stuck right in gives you a much better all round picture of each island.

I learnt so much watching this as I had never heard of many of these islands. Their history, uniqueness and interesting stories were just superb to watch.

Give this series a go. Granted, it's an old format of a man travelling around Britain but it works wonderfully with Martin Clunes and a whole host of islands that very few people know anything about. Great TV personality with a fresh and fantastically interesting view on island life.

A very good, interesting and fascinating account of Island life around Britain. Martin Clunes delves into the lives and history of people living off the shores of Britain from the most Northern tip to the most Southern.

His friendly, open and happy go lucky approach make this series really enjoyable. His interaction with folk he meets make this an ideal 'weekend watch.' The only drawback I found was that it ended all too quickly!

Islands Of Britain [DVD] [2009]
This is a superbly put together mini-series (first shown on ITV).
Martin Clunes is at his most endearing as he travels from one end of Britain to the other visiting some islands that I never knew existed! He throws himself wholeheartedly into his role as explorer/reporter as, through his experiences, the viewer is privy to the (sometimes, quite bizarre) traditions of the various islands.
A thoroughly enjoyable, must-see DVD. It is well worth putting aside a few hours in order to watch it from beginning to end.
So captivating it leaves you hoping for a sequel.

I do love Martin Clunes and with good reason. This is another stupidly good series from the man.

This is a travel programme which is full of chatacter. Martin's passion and excitement is clear. I have learnt about places I didn't know even existed right on my door step. this programme really opens you up to the beauty of our own home and has inspired me to do more travelling around the isles myself!

The islands on show were very good however I was very disapointed that the Islands on the East Coast were missed especially the Holy and Farn Islands etc
Unless there is to be another series which cover those

this is another travel dvd that is wonderful for those of us who live too far away to visit all these places in person. i've looked at so many pictures that i recognized many of the island locations. the scenery glows. filming/photography is perfect. i'd like to see more. martin clunes is a fun host. very likable. you could tell he was enjoying taking us round. i watched it, then watched it with another family member. and i could watch it again tomorrow.

Great DVD very interesting with lovely landscape views. Martin Clunes is also great, funny and serious at the same time, a change from Men Behaving Badly as I got to know him in that comedy series and thought that he was just a comedian, but now I know he's a great documentary narrator as well. Lovely
