Product Description

Product Description

A lonely, foggy island is home to eight families. Twelve-year-old Hal and his friends have always wondered what happened all those years ago on the mainland, that unseen place Out There beyond the fog, and after an astonishing discovery in the woods the children are more determined than ever to find out what their parents are hiding. But their lives are turned upside down when Abigail reveals her closely guarded secret. According to her, the children are slowly changing into monsters! Are they freaks of nature, or subjects of a sinister experiment?

Each child reacts differently to his or her unique monstrous transformation; after all, one may feel proud to be a dragon, faerie, or centaur, but who in their right mind wants to be a sadistic manticore or cowardly harpy?

ISLAND OF FOG is a story of intrigue and conspiracy. The reader follows Hal Franklin as he struggles to accept that he and his friends are something more than ordinary children, and that their parents have been covering up the truth the whole time. With their trust shaken and the unexpected arrival of a strange woman from Out There, the children hide their frightening shapeshifting abilities and pretend nothing is wrong.

Super First Novel 14 Oct 2010
Format:Paperback
This is the first novel in a trilogy. Superbly written, this book had me eagerly turning the pages for more! A cracking good read, not just for lovers of sci-fi! It had me thinking of the USA series, Lost, and also in parts of the Twilight series. However, don't misunderstand me, this book is a totally original story which stands proudly in the bookshops alongside the most popular authors.

Have just finished the first book of Keith's trilogy and I must say I enjoyed every moment of it.

I found the story to be clever, with enough minor twists to catch the unwary and also throw the more 'jaded' reader a curve-ball. The characters are likeable and varied enough to be more than just cut-outs designed to appeal to a certain audience and age.

The way the story develops, revealing new elements of its structure is, in my mind, akin to a master jeweller revealing each finely cut facet of a diamond as he polishes it. In fact as novels go, this probably drew me into its story far easier than most.

This story is, in my opinion, one I would heartily recommend to anyone with an interest in good storytelling, not just an interest in fantasy.

A Great Read! 16 Feb 2010
Format:Paperback
It's hard enough being twelve and dealing with the unavoidable changes starting to manifest as one slowly develops into adulthood. Imagine adding to these a sudden transformation into another being! This is what Hal and his seven friends face on the Island of Fog, a place where these eight friends have lived all their lives. Shrouded in a mysterious fog, this island is home to only these eight children and their parents. Hal and his friends are determined to find answers to explain their transformations and also the mysterious fog. Keith Robinson takes us on an intriguing journey with a chockfull of surprises on the way. The Island of Fog is a page turner and I look forward to reading the sequel.
