Sam, a brilliant but struggling gay artist, and Donovan, a successful thrusting Manhattan lawyer, are on a cruise ship that sinks. They wind up together on a deserted Caribbean island where Donovan, who has never allowed himself to think about his sexuality, finds the mutual attraction to Sam increasingly irresistible. Then, after falling for each other, the two men are rescued and return to 'civilisation'.
The story is not a complicated one but it is told with insignt and skill. The fear of never being rescued vies with the excitement of mutual discovery for the two men and the sex between them, and growing love, are treated with powerful drama and eroticism. The same goes for the revolution in both mens' lives wrought by their shared experience and the sense of alienation both feel from the so-called civilised world to which they return.
A lovely book: sweet, tender and erotic.

okay the book itself, not very thick but it's so full of detail and you can imagine it all happening in from of you. it's none of that silly "he came and collasped" stuff, this is full on nudity with detail and well lets just say, i was extremely happy with the product when it came through my letter box, i did not stop reading it. it's a story between two men and twists and plot fill the pages.

If you're tired of 'coming of age' stories or reading of guys simply rolling from bed to bed then (or wherever) read Island of Temptation.This story of two adults established in their own individual worlds is told with skill, charm and insight by Claire Thompson.I found Sam and Donovan utterly believable and wanted to race ahead with the story in the hope that they would find a stable and mature relationship.
Sams mature approach is an object lesson to many gay guys struggling to forge a relationship and the book should give encouragement - and great pleasure - to many readers.
