ISLAND by Jane Richmond is, in short, stunning.

The collection is simplistically stylish and timeless, with easy to follow patterns for even novice knitters. Jane Richmond's understanding and execution of wearable, contemporary accessories and clothing are offered to the reader on the captivating backdrop of the homeland by which she is so clearly inspired.

Nicholas Kupiak, the photographer, has delivered such wholesome, beautiful images that ISLAND is enjoyable even if there is no intention to knit!

Thank you for sharing with us a wonderful, and useful, piece of art!

I love the aesthetics of the book, the photos are just stunning and channel a nice easygoing atmosphhere. The patterns are very well written, simplistic but yet all have great attention to the detail and the garments look extremely wearable. I'm knitting my first project out of the book now (Sthrathcona) and am really happy with how it's coming up.

Island Dream 5 Jan. 2013

I've been a Jane Richmond fan for a while so when I heard she had a book coming out I knew I would be buying myself a little holiday gift.

The book itself is styled beautifully, with dreamy shots of knitting out in nature. The patterns are a collection of a hat, fingerless gloves, scarf, cowl and cardigan. You will need to have some knitting under your belt to be able to make these, I'd say an advanced beginner would be fine.

I really love how she chose to write up the cardigan pattern. It is written so you fill in a space with the numbers for your size, which you chose from a chart, thus eliminating the awful problem of following the wrong size. This is genius! Knitters will appreciate what a great idea this is!

The patterns are clearly written, which is always true of all Jane's work.If you'd like to see the actual designs that are featured in the book, take a look at her website at janerichmond.com or on the knitting site ravelry.com where you can see many versions of her patterns knit up by her fans.

It's kinda hard to chose a pattern book without seeing the designs, so I'd go take a look and see if you like them. The patterns are well written and easy to follow. I'd give it two thumbs up! Going back to my knitting now and yes, it is a Jane Richmond pattern!

Great Book 28 Feb. 2014

I bought this book as a gift to another knitter who I know is also a fan of Jane Richmond, and I almost didn't want to give it to her! Jane's patterns are classic with a twist, and the instructions look clear (I haven't actually knit any of them directly just read them). And, as always, the photography is terrific. If you know a knitter who likes contemporary but clean items, get them this book!

I am a relatively new knitter and was not familiar with her patterns. This is a lovely book with nice photos and a variety of patterns. I am looking forward to knitting several of the items in the book.
