Brady guides are always terrible, riddled with errors, and NEVER have an index. But this one is even worse. No wonder the three authors, Tim Bogenn, Michael Owen, and Kenny Sims did not put their name on the cover (it is on the backpage).
On deadislandwiki everytime we find a mistake we label it, and add it to the page:
Category:Unofficial Guide Mistakes.
Here are some of the mistakes we have found thus far:
*Omitted side quests:
**A Tough Nut to Crack
**Remains of the Damned
*Omitted chapters (main quests are there just no chapters):
**Chapter 9: Good News vs. Bad News,
**Chapter 17: Hope is the Last to Die and
**Chapter 18: The World Went Away.
*Lists a "nun" (Helen?) as giving the Meat Bait Mod in Drowned Hope as a reward. It also correctly list Antonio giving the Meat Bait Mod in the next quest, Drop by Drop.
*Family Matters quest: mistakenly lists Heavy Brass Knuckles as the reward for completing this quest.
*Knockin on Haaven's Door: lists this quest incorrectly as hard.
*Out of Stock: mistakenly does not list this quest in the continuous quests section, it is listed in the normal quest section.
*Passport to Life: "There's a weapons chest under your bungalow" with a picture of a weapons chest neat a orange life preserver ring under the Pool House. But there is no chest under the bungalow in the final version of the game.
*Prologue: incorrectly states that Sinamoi was the voice on the hotel PA system when the hero was trying to escape. It was actually Ryder White.
*Sacred Silence: incorrectly lists the reward as a "wicked knife", but in recorded game play videos the reward is a mace.
*Simon's Hub: incorrectly names this location Simon's Warehouse.
*Tell Me Where It Hurts: incorrectly states that the reward for this mission is the Barbed Wire Mod. The barb wire mod is actually found in Moresby Supermarket in Act II.
*To Kill Time: Page 94 of the guide states cash only as the reward, Page 95 explains the reward is cash and experience points.
*Saying the last human seen by the hero is the policeman, it is actually the BIDF soldier.
There will surely going to be many, many more mistakes. This is just what we have found in two weeks.
In addition, the maps are all distored and messed up, especially the map of the resort near to Earl's Workshop (official guide name)/ Old Marina Workshop (actual name).
1. no list of unique weapons,
2. as mentioned above no locations of skulls,
3. also no explanation of how weapons are spawned randomly.
4. No locations of weapons chests.
UPDATE: Thus far on dead island wiki I have found 32 errors in the book. 11/21/2011
