Product Description

Product Description

This popular classic is a must for all Muslim children, parents, and teachers. It covers the lives of the Prophets, faith, prayer, fasting, charity, pilgrimage, morals, and manners. Learning by doing is emphasized, with plenty of fun things to do for kids 6-12 years: picture puzzles, crossword puzzles, games, coloring, and crafts, making learning about Islam enjoyable and educational. Originally published in Germany, it has already been used successfully in both Muslim homes and weekend classes. The English version has been revised and carries new illustrations.

Ahmad Von Denffer was born in Germany in 1949. He studied Islamics and Social Anthropology at the Universty of Mainz, where he also attended additional courses in the Department of Missiology. His special interests include Christian-Muslim relations. He has made a number of contributions to scholarly journals and has several publications to his credit. He joined the Islamic Foundation as Research Fellow in 1978 and is presently working with the Islamic Centre, Munich.

This book was published at a time when there was a great lack of quality books about Islam, especially for children. However, as with most books by the Islamic Foundation, it represents a great effort and introduction to Islam for children. It features inspirational true stories of the prophets, sections on good manners, and also the basic aspects (five pillars) of Islam are dealt with. It therefore provides a nicely broad introduction to your Muslim child, up to the age of about 10. However, it may well be that better titles are available now, although this does not detract from this excellent effort, and it is highly recommended to all parents in order to teach Islam to their kids. Non-muslims will also find it a useful introducation to the fastest growing religion today.

Dull Illustration 16 Nov 2009
By Parisi
Format:Paperback
Being a book for the children (I bought this for my daughter), I was expecting lively and colourful pictures/illustrations. Also for non-Arabic speaking kids may find this a bit intimidating as more often than not, there are Arabic scriptures inside the book.
