What this book doesn't tell you about Isaiah's message is not worth knowing!
I have been using Tyndale commentaries for 20 years, but have never had my own copy of Isaiah - so I am glad to have it.
The content of the book exceeds my expectations. Motyer has a good reputation, but I didn't expect the attention to the finer details that this book offers.
My only annoyances are that the book will not stay open - which is essential for study purposes - and the print is both rather faint and small - I have to use a magnifying glass.

Excellent, thought provoking commentary on Isaiah. I would thoroughly recommend this book for anyone wanting to delve deeper into Isaiah. very easy to read and split into short sections so that you can read the book section by section.

Useful conservative commentary with insights about the role of the Anonymous Conqueror. Limited in scope but Motyer has a bigger book. Either book is useful but the exilic and post-exilic interpretation of later chapters is flawed.

Isaiah clearly explained in light of the 21st century. 2 Nov. 2010
By The El - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover Verified Purchase
This book of Isaiah from the Bible is the Old Testament book most quoted by Jesus and the apostles to explain the purpose of Jesus coming to earth as a man. The author, Mr. Motyer, is one of the leading Old Testament experts in the world today and is also a lucid writer. The book is small so I take it with me all the time to read and re-read.

Isaiah finally explained! 14 July 2008
By S. R. Hoover - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
This is a very good, in-depth study of the book of Isaiah. While not for the undeducated, it is an excellent verse-by-verse explanation of the history, background, and explanations of Isaiah's words. Brings a deeper understanding and appreciation for the prophetic wisdom and Holy Spirit guidance shown in this remarkable, and timely, book of the Bible.

A Laywoman's Perspective 4 July 2007
By A. Hatfield - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
I appreciate the approach to a large Old Testament book full of prophecies. I can understand the vocabulary and yet am challenged to grasp the wonderful meanings for the prophet, Isaiah's day, The Day of the LORD, and also our day presently. The Holy One of Israel is also our Suffering Servant and Redeemer.
