Mr. J. Low says:
There are a few versions of the movie out there but is this the best one? What about the 2 disc edition with both the US theatrical version and Director's Cut? I've heard about a MGM released Region 3 edition that has everything on it. Any Ideas?

P. Stark says:
There is no such thing!

Each DVD & Blu-Ray edition has its own specific bonus features, aspect ratio or it's HD vs. SD.

Note: All Anchor Bay editions have a 1.66:1 Anamorphic transfer for widescreen versions not the original 1.85:1 so the image is cropped.

The Film (HD)
USA (Universal) & UK (Optimum) BD are both playable in the UK. These contain the USA THEATRICAL CUT in HD. The UK Optimum version has the Director's Cut in Standard Definition & includes the commentary tracks on this version plus the deleted scenes as with disc 2 of previous Anchor Bay DVD editions. The USA Universal release has the Creating the Deadites documentary. Amazon lists 85 minutes for the UK running time - this would then make it if accurate the European Cut and not the USA theatrical cut (confirmation of length needed).

Army Of Darkness Aka Evil Dead III [Blu-ray]

Army of Darkness: Screwhead Edition [Blu-ray] [1992] [US Import]

The German DVD/BD pack contains many versions of the film but should still be lacking the R3/4 MGM Evil Ash stripping Sheila shots. The 6th disc is the extras DVD and has an alternate TV cut in German with English subtitles (not yet released at the time of writing).

Bonus features -

On DVD the 2 disc UK Anchor Bay release has a DTS 6.1 track on the USA Theatrical Cut and both the UK and USA versions have the 'The Men Behind The Army' documentary narrated by Bruce Campbell plus Director's Storyboards running with the USA Dirctor's Cut as well as a stills gallery.

Army of Darkness [DVD] [1993] [Region 1] [US Import] [NTSC]

Army of Darkness [DVD] [1993] [Region 1] [US Import] [NTSC]

Army Of Darkness - The Evil Dead 3 [DVD] [1993]

The Region 3/4 MGM Dino DeLaurentis version with the brief shot of Sheila's dress being ripped by Evil Ash also contains a few seconds extra in the commentary track as a result.

The German region 2/B 2013 DVD/BD 6 disc pack offers little new BONUS content other than a few trailers from current reports.

The Film (SD DVD/HD BD) -

The German release has all but one known accepted version (no "complete" version) - Director's Cut 92 min PAL or 96 min NTSC, US Theatrical Cut 78 min PAL or 81 min NTSC, German/European/International Cut 85 min PAL or 88 min NTSC. Plus in SD on DVD the USA TV version, with alternative settings and changed dialogue with a running time of approximately 85 minutes in the German language with English subtitles.

The Film Other Versions (SD) best Quality MGM DVD -

The bodice ripping scene was actually an idea conceived by producer Dino DeLaurentis Sam Raimi removed is from the official Director's Cut. Although in SD this really is the best looking and sounding version for fans. The MGM prints are taken from superior film elements/prints NOT from masters produced for home video like the Anchor Bay DVD versions. Also MGM DVDs are correctly displaying the original aspect ratio of 1.85:1 Anamorphic Widescreen.

Region 3/4 "complete" version from MGM -

Army Of Darkness : Evil Dead 3 [IMPORT] [REGION 3] - only fully uncut version released !

Region 2 85 minute PAL European Version with English 5.1 from MGM (France) -

German 2006 MGM European 85 min ver. re-release -

ASIN: B000164XPQ (2006, Germany)

ASIN: B000E1MURQ (2006, France)

The 85 min 2003/2006 MGM "European" Cut reportedly includes the following audio & subtitles: -

Audio: English Dolby Digital 5.1, German Dolby Digital 5.1, French Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround, Italian Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround, Spanish Dolby Digital 2.0 (unknown mix).

Subtitles: Spanish, German, French, Italian, English, Danish, Finnish, Greek, Hungarian, Dutch, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Swedish, Czech, Turkish.

Army of Darkness Information (new German edition released April 26 2013 not included):

I cannot comment on the March 2013 French Region B BD as I have no idea if the subs are removable or if it has English audio on each version of the film. It is cheap and does contain the 3 official versions.
