3.0 out of 5 stars Face time! 27 Nov 2011
By Nicola Hardy TOP 500 REVIEWER
Format:Board book
This colourful board book offers a fun way of teaching your baby or toddler about facial features. As you turn each page, you see a drawing of a child pointing at a particular part of their face. On the opposite page is a creature, pointing to the same feature (an owl with huge eyes, a dog with a long nose, a rabbit with large ears, a frog with a wide mouth, and a goat with a big hairy chin). The final page gives a summary of all the pictures, along with a mirror that flips up so that your little one can see their own face alongside the illustrations.

I bought this book for my daughter when she was one. She didn't really take to it, and would never ask for it to be read more than once. I think part of the problem may have been that the text isn't all that interesting - "Can you find your eyes, eyes, eyes? Yes you can!" etc. I also think that the style of illustration didn't help my daughter to make connection between the features depicted and her own.

From the outset, the best bit was always looking in the mirror at the end. After a few reads, I realised that if I flipped the mirror up whilst reading the whole book, my daughter could see her face alongside the pictures throughout, and this was more fun. I do think that she would have found a storybook approach more appealing, though.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy and Educational 3 Dec 2010

Format:Board book
A lovely book to read together and has become a firm favourite. Easy to remember for when you have to read it upside down! We bought it after seeing it a friends house and my daughter wouldn't put it down.

5.0 out of 5 stars a huge hit! 26 Mar 2012
By christy
Format:Board book
The 2 and 3 year olds I work with LOVE this book. I sing it to the tune of London Bridge and all of my little students point to the corresponding parts of the face. I follow up with Head, shoulders knees and toes... I never write reviews, but I never had such a huge and extended response to a book. Thought I should share!

Lovely book. The repetition on each page may seem boring to an adult but the babies learn through this.
Would recommend.
