If you are having any hesitation to buy this album let me reassure assure and simply say buy it!

Touche Amore are part of a select few bands within the hardcore scene who I genuinely respect. Rather then rehashing the same musical territory, that all other bands have already done for the last 30 years this album shows some real imagination. You won't find endless breakdowns - Riff - Chorus repeat on this album.

Instead of that you will find a fantastic musical intensity that keeps the frenetic pacing of hardcore music, without falling into all the usual pitfalls. Variation is the hallmark of the album, beautiful guitar tones and drums that stand out for their aggression.

For me the stand out feature of this album is the lyrical content. Jeremy Bolm proving (yet again) you can have emotionally charged and powerful lyrics without talking about your last break up or unrequited love. He treads that tenuous and tragically underused ground of mature lyrical content. Exploring numerous themes and issues at a near frantic pace.

For, while these songs are longer then their previous albums most sit between the 2-3 minute mark and the whole album comes in at 29:35 minutes. Personally I enjoy the increased song duration, the fault of I have had previous is that; by the time you get really into a song it is over!

While this band are often put into the same category as: La Dispute, Defeater and Pianos Become the Teeth. I can hear lot of much older bands in their music: Indian Summer, Funeral Diner, City and Caterpillar and The Saddest Landscape. The older screamo bands, before that word came to mean Scene kids playing synth and singing about heartbreak.

If you are a fan of: Punk, Hardcore, Screamo then I strongly recommend you buy this album. If you are still unsure go listen to: Just Exist and Harbor on YouTube then comeback and click on buy!

Definitely one of my favourite releases of 2013. The album is punchy and very well written. Possibly their best album yet.

As a record guy, I was very happy to see no warp-damage on this vinyl due to the good packaging.

This is without doubt the most disappointing purchase I've made in a long long time. After buying 'Parting the sea' I saw enough potential to see what else this band had to offer.
There is not one single hardcore song on this album. There is not one single memorable song on this album. This album is weak, forgetful, irritating rubbish.
Musically it's just about OK but completely forgetful due to the fact that there seems to be no evidence of anyone having actually written any actual songs; just random jingly jangly guitar progressions. No punch, no riff, no energy. Technically OK for just a bunch of people jamming some random ideas but that's as far as it goes for me.
Worst of all is the singing. This guy just screams in persistent annoying monotone over every song.
-
So to summarise: No good songs, utterly irritating monotone screaming, weak forgetful nonsense.
This band should just give up immediately.

Sincere and Elegant Dissonance 24 Sept. 2013
By Eric Titus - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Vinyl
Touché Amoré's sound is a beautiful juxtaposition of quiet and loud. The guitars twang and strum clean tones while the drums hammer the song forward. The bass creates subtle harmonies while the vocals scream emotional and musical dissonance. The melodies of the music are contemporary rock turned punk, but the lyrics freeze human experience in time with poetic and prosaic expertise. There is a sense of mature self-awareness throughout the album that anyone familiar with the genre will appreciate.

So many albums in the hardcore genres (taken in the broadest sense) go wrong because the sound is cliché, or the lyrics are obscure or melodramatic. Touché Amoré approaches both their sound and their lyrics with a goal to improve each album. They have. Their sound on *Is Survived By* is full of classic rock overdrive, present bass, and drums with attack; these tones can't go out of style. Their lyrics are an honest assessment of life--sometimes awe-strikingly beautiful, sometimes abysmally depressing and confounding; sincere attempts at understanding life can't be dismissed or forgotten.

The best type of music is the kind that knows what it is and executes that well. Touché Amoré is among one of the best bands out today, not because they are revolutionary, but because they have formed such a solid, identifiable, and sincere sound. The lyrics of *Is Survived By* will challenge a serious listener, and the sound will refresh anyone feeling stagnant or stale in the heavy/alternative music scene. I would recommend this album to almost anyone.

Is Survived By 8 Mar. 2014
By Abbe Hinder - Published on Amazon.com
Is it just me or does the lead singer sound exactly like the lead singer from La Dispute? Maybe the difference between the two is the fact that this one, Jeremy Bolm screams a lot more. Anyway, onto the music and my review, this is a great album. praise/Love ends where Anyone/Anything begins which leads this album off to a nice and solid start.

Touché Amoré sound a bit panicked throughout the whole album. I just couldn’t help but notice that DNA, Steps and Blue Angel come off as too fast, too rushed to give off the intended tone that they were going for.

Is Survived By is full of smooth guitar riffs and some solid drumming that are prominent in songs To Write Content and Is Survived By that leave an odd sense of perfection. For the most part, vocals sound very strong and full of emotion that holds an intense amount of power with such sad lyrics.

Overall, I really enjoyed this! Their music is fresh and although they’re quickly getting attention that they deserve, they don’t seem to succumb to it as much as I would have expected them to which I must respect them for. My favourite songs on this album are: To Write Content, Social Caterpillar, Non Fiction, and Is Survived By. I recommend this to anyone who enjoys more underground hardcore bands.

A step forward from TA without veering far from their tried and true methods of making beautiful music 6 Dec. 2013
By Mr Poopy Pants - Published on Amazon.com

Touche Amore has no problem demonstrating while they're still one of the best bands around with 'Is Survived By'.
TA's trademarks are all here and even improved upon, most notably the guitar work.
'Survived By' maintains the beautiful, raw emotional delivery of Bolm's thought provoking and stripped-naked lyrics mated blissfully with twangy rhythm guitar riffs and mathematical breakdowns.
I was anticipating this record for quite some time and, while maybe not quite as memorable as PTSBBAM, it certainly didn't leave me disappointed in any way.

Great work. 24 Feb. 2014

This album is really good. I just got into Touché a few months ago, and have not been able to stop listening to them since. This album deals with a lot of thoughts based on mortality and how people try to leave a mark in this world. It starts out with a very confused outlook, but by the last 3 tracks, it gives you reassuring words that are very meaningful. The instrumentation is very good and despite the fact that the singer mostly screams, they still manage to produce a sound that works.
