More About the Author

Sophie started her professional kitchen career at the tender age of 14 before moving to London to gain her Advanced Chef Diploma at Butler's Wharf Chef School.  At just 19 she was nominated for The Craft Guild of Chef 'Young Chef of the Year Award' and has since worked at some of the Capital's best restaurants including The Green House, The Lanesborough and The Embassy.

Sophie has a real passion for nutrition and healthy eating.  She was the private chef for a world famous supermodel for two years and has cooked for various other A-list clients.  This healthy cookery experience made her the perfect choice of presenter to join Channel 4's popular food series Cook Yourself Thin, and a New Year's spin off special of the series.  In the past she has worked as Head Chef on Ch4's The Fit Farm, and she is continually invited onto Good Food Channel's Market Kitchen. Many years back Sophie also appeared on Sky's Taste and Good Food Live and she filmed The Teenagers Guide to Life for BBC1. She has also appeared on Celebrity Weakest Link, danced for Comic Relief on Lets Dance, sang for the main Comic Relief show and has done numerous interviews on shows such as Richard and Judy, Loose Women and GMTV. Most recently she was privileged to be asked to judge on Iron Chef USA, Sophie continues to build on her relationship with the US market.

Sophie has had several successful cookbooks. Her first was Irresistible published in 2005 followed by the TV tie-in book, Cook Yourself Thin: A Delicious Way to Drop a Dress Size which went to number three on the UK non-fiction paperback list.  Her latest book, Fabulous Food: Sexy recipes for Healthy Living was published in 2008.
Sophie's forth book "Love Good Food" is out next April.  She is also a regular columnist for Grazia Magazine, Healthy Magazine, Tesco's Count Down to Christmas Magazine and Top Sante. She is also the Middle-Eastern food correspondent for Eat Me magazine. In 2007 she wrote Tesco's in-store recipe cards and she has been featured in top magazines and newspapers worldwide.

Sophie is in big demand for various food related PR campaigns and product ranges.  She worked again with Tesco on their luxury Bath and Beauty product range which was inspired by her two favourite desserts.  In 2008 she was involved with Bring on the Salads campaign and 'The Early Harvest' Lindeman's wine campaign.  She also filmed a series of podcasts for 'Uncle Bens' and last year her media campaigns included the launch of premium Green and White tipped tea for Tetley in Canada, devising recipes for Tefal Vitacuisine and she was advising expert for the new Herbal Essences range.  She is continually works with the Fruit Growers Association and Clemengold in South Africa.
This year was equally as busy with a tweet along healthy eating campaign for Ocado, a pop up boudoir for Haagen Dazz and podcasts for Danone yoghurt.
Sophie's consultancy and private cooking takes her all over the world - a cookery school in Sardinia , healthy eating lessons in Beirut, followed by a restaurant there and then cooking as personal chef to a Hollywood actor whilst filming on location!
She is currently developing TV projects with some key independent production companies for transmission in the UK and USA.

Product Description

When Sophie Michell became a chef, her love affair with food meant her figure suffered from being able to cook and eat whatever she fancied. Realising that this was doing nothing for her health as a sufferer of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Sophie began to devise her own recipes, which combined the foodstuffs she loved while avoiding those that had made her tired and overweight. The result is a collection of recipes that could grace any gourmet restaurant table, but which your body will love as much as your taste buds. Breakfasting on Balinese coconut and banana pancakes, lunching on organic chicken stuffed with Dolcelatte and dining on spiced wild salmon with avocado, mango and chilli salsa, amongst a host of other stunning recipes, means that avoiding sugar or wheat is hardly a chore. Vegetable dishes and light snacks supplement the main meals. And because nobody can be good all the time, there is a tempting selection of sweet treats.

I bought the book, because my sister loved it and as a collector of cookery books I'm always on the lookout for something new and promising. When the book arrived, I was at first rather dissapointed since I don`t believe in low-carb at all and I thought Sopie was using rather a lot of butter, but I soon became a convert. I just love this book and I'm completely addicted to the watermelon and feta salad (it even tastes great with low-fat feta cheese, good quality one, of course) and the nutty puy lentil and goat's cheese salad was also very nice. In the chapter on desserts, Sophie breaks her rules for healty eating, but you won't regret that: I baked the rosewater cheesecake (leaving out the sweet pistachio pesto for practical reasons) and my colleagues just loved it!

I read a review of this in a Sunday paper and decided to give it a try. It is worth every penny. The recipes are very simple and quick to prepare and are extremely tasty. I have cooked many of the dishes for dinner parties and people loved them. Buy it!
