Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

Having had 46 previous bestsellers, Danielle Steel knows a good plot recipe when she's got one--namely, take a smart, beautiful woman who is dissatisfied with her loving but stuffy husband, add a romantic, usually older man with a true appreciation of her inner soul, then sit back and watch the melodrama unfold. In this latest novel, our heroine Meredith Whitman is a career-driven investment banker, our husband Steve is a sweet physician and our other man, Cal Dow, is a high-tech business Midas. When Cal offers Meredith the perfect job in San Francisco, Steve encourages her to move across country and promises to follow her as soon as he can. Meredith and Steve's marriage begins to crack under the pressures of the distance and soon "irresistible forces" come into play. Don't expect profundity, although Danielle Steel can make even the most sordid affairs seem romantic or at least entertaining. --Nancy R.E. O'Brien --This text refers to the Hardcover edition.

Danielle Steel has written yet another fantastic novel.

A story about two people that have different working backgrounds. Both want to improve their family life but with different things, but there is a price they both have to pay. They have put thousands of miles between them which puts one hell of a strain on their marriage and their love.

I don't want to say too much about the story as that will spoil it for you and that wouldn't be fair.

As soon as you start to read the book the story catches you straight away, never a dull moment and beautifully written as always.

Well Done Danielle another great novel. :-)

Although I am one of Danielle Steel's greatest fans I found this book one big yawn.. Slow is the operative word and I kept wishing something would happen. We are told the same thing over and over again .... If you miss this one don't loose sleep over it.

I like Ms Steel's work, The Ring is my favourite. I really want to like this book because the situation that Steve and Meredith found themselves in - living seperatly in different cities due to work commitments which was somewhat similar my own situation. So with great anticipation, I started to read...after first 2 chapters I found this hard going, but like any sensible readers who paid hard earned cash to buy a book I presisted...Finally, I resigned to the invitable --- stop reading mid-way through. The problems with this story were: (1) The cardboard cut-out characters which lack depth; (2) The three main characters are all unlikeable and selfish despite having good jobs, money and good looks; (3) Adultery - despite being married to each other for years and claimed to love each other deeply, both Steve & Meredith had affairs after only a few months apart. Callen, Meredith's love interest came across as calculating and nasty and Meredith left Steve for him! Unbelievable!
