The authors of this book clearly have a great deal of experience between them and communicate that, and their training tips in a language that's easy to understand. The book includes some reasons why we aspire to compete in such races and suggestions for training plans; covering plans for those who just want to finish, complete in 6 hours and one for more accomplished athletes, who want to set a PB.
All in, a great read and must have on any aspiring Ironman's bookshelf!

3.0 out of 5 stars Maybe 70.3 out of 100%?!?!, 27 Oct 2011

This review is from: Ironman 70.3: Training for the Middle Distance (Ironman Edition) (Paperback)
I bought this book in preparation for the couple of half ironman events I'm planning to do next year. Previously I've bought the Triathletes Bible and found it far too wordy and scientific beyond what I wanted. This book is the opposite. It dulls down the jargon that you get in the larger texts and gives you examples from a few beginner long-distance triathletes. It is littered with spelling and punctuation mistakes, which is a downer, and the references about athletes the authors have worked with gets a bit tedious. There are some good training tips and some decent training plans for beginner, try-harder-ers and elites, so not too bad overall.

I just think there must be better written and more informative books out there that don't require a PhD to read and understand.
