Size Name:1GB|Amazon Vine™ Review (What's this?)
Like something straight out of a Bond movie this is THE flash drive for spooks or the acutely paranoid. Joking apart this is one serious memory stick that takes security to its limits. Claiming to feature military standard encryption technology the first thing that strikes you with this stick is how solid and chunky it is: it's like a small ingot of steel and looks capable of taking a fair degree of abuse - not that that would be wise as the manufacturers claim that any attempts to interference with the device in an attempt to extract the innards will cause it to self destruct (I did not bench test this feature however). I registered the device online which was a straight-forward process and found it to be a conventional flash drive in use. However it differs in several important ways: on inserting the device you are asked to log in (which you'd better get right: ten consecutive failed attempts and the thing permanently dies) after which a control panel pops up that allows access to its various features which includes the on-board Firefox browser for trace-free browsing (it's all on the pen drive and not left on your PC). You can also access the web-based Ironkey site from here and your account to change passwords and so on.

To my knowledge there is nothing quite like this product currently on the market and if data security is a high priority to you or your company then it deserves serious consideration. True, one gigabyte of storage may not sound much but unless you want to store a lot of data-rich audio-video files this is more than adequate for housing a shed-load of 'classified' documents', 'personal files' or Swiss bank account details (to name three possible applications!). And no, it isn't cheap, but in view of the build quality of the product, the technology it utilises, and the ongoing support and - most importantly - the peace of mind it affords, I believe it represents excellent value for money. Recommended.

Mac users watch out 15 Feb 2011
Size Name:2GB
I bought one of these because a friend (also a Mac user) had one and it worked well when I saw it in action. He'd had some difficulty with an antivirus program at first, but was pleased with the product when he worked round the problem. My own story is less happy. I found the drive impossible to initialise on a Mac (latest OS), so I sent it back and got a new one. Same problem with the new one. I spent a long time exchanging emails with the IronKey help desk, who suggested, inter alia, that I must have bought secondhand products from Amazon! In the end they admitted there was a software problem currently being addressed. So I now have a very nice key fob until I can find an up to date Windows machine on which to do the initialisation, something I haven't had time for as yet. It's obvious that the build quality is very good and I know that these things work on Mac from my friend's experience, hence the two stars, but I'd warn Mac users to be wary of this product until the software is sorted.

Size Name:16GB
I have purchased a brand new IronKey Personal S200 16GB Flash Drive (date of purchase 23-01-2012) through Amazon.co.uk. I have installed and defined all the password and security questions and settings and used the key fine but during the last couple of days my PC stopped recognising the IronKey upon insertion. Initially I suspected that it might be my PC (Windows 7 Pro) firewall and Kaspersky anti virus software settings, so I disabled it all and tried again but without success. Also when inserted to another PC the same problem occurred. The green LED indicator light, on the IronKey turns on upon insertion but nothing happens, and when I checked on My Computer the IronKey logo didn't appear. Sometimes when I eject the IronKey the light goes off and after reinserting it back to my PC the IronKey is recognised and appears on the My Computer drives list and I can use it but it's unpredictable unreliable and unusable.
I am very disappointed as IronKey.com support page doesn't give the relevant solution and trouble shooting information to that specific problem. Today I decided to try and update the IronKey software as I thought that it should solve the problem but after following IronKey online instructions the installation failed. I think that my product is either faulty or not user friendly you decide. Today I sent to IronKey support the description of my IronKey problem, let's see how they act to resolve it.
