Sheesh!,

This review is from: The Iron Angel (Book of Lowmoor) (Hardcover)
How does Richard Poole do it!?! How does he make everything fit so perfectly in the books of Lowmoor and make each one better than the one before it?
This book finishes one of the greatest triologies of all time, the plot is so the compelling, the action is so imaginative and the description is amaaaaazing! Richard Poole manages to concludes the plot tying up all the loose ends and making everything so perfect, I just wish there were more of the books! This is one of my favourite books of all time!

Great (if a bit too fast),

This review is from: The Iron Angel (Book of Lowmoor) (Paperback)
"The Iron Angel" is the fast paced and entertaining conclusion to the Book of Lowmoor trilogy. It reveals the mystery behind the five crystals and we finally discover what happened to the "giants".
There is non-stop action throughout the book. While this is generally a good thing, it has also given the book a somewhat rushed feel. It was one escapade after another and I sometimes wished that the writer would give the heroes - and the readers - time to pause to catch their breaths! This is the "shortest" novel in the trilogy when it could easily have been the longest. I feel that Richard Poole has tried to squeeze in too much over just 382 pages, and as a result character and story development have had to take a back seat. Characters are introduced and quickly written out, for example, which does not give the reader the chance to care about them. All in all, however, this is a satisfying conclusion to a higher-than-average trilogy. The writer hints of further adventures in the closing sentences so don't be surprised if a second trilogy surfaces in the near future.

All Is Revealed - More To Come?,

This review is from: The Iron Angel (Book of Lowmoor) (Hardcover)
This is the third and (possibly?)final Book of Lowmoor. As with most series that come out at intervals of one year, it is best read after a re-read of Jewel and Thorn and The Brass Key. Doing that pays dividends, as it brings home how altogether absorbing and convincing the fantasy world of Lowmoor and its six-inch humans is in total. The central characters grow and mature in the very short overall duration of the story. The first two volumes were filled with riddles about this world and a series of interlocking quests: in this final volume, the riddles are answered, the quests completed, the battles with evil fought out, all in a setting of vivid descriptive prose and thought-provoking moral and religious debate, conducted so lightly and liberally that no teen-age reader should feel cornered or preached at. The book culiminates in a crescendo of action and excitement and ends just as it should do. Ends? Perhaps - until the last two words.....
