Product Description

Sony Music re-launches the first six albums of the Rory Gallagher catalogue, Rory Gallagher, Deuce, Live! In Europe, Blueprint, Tattoo and Irish Tour in 2012.  As Daniel Gallagher, Rory’s Nephew and producer of the re-issues states: "What better way to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of Rory Gallagher's solo career than with the release of his first six solo albums, re-mastered from the original 1/4 inch master tapes?”
The titles have all been re-mastered, use enhanced versions of the original release artwork with sleeve notes from, amongst others, Donal Gallagher, Rory’s brother and former tour manager.
This is the jewelcase edition.

The new 6 re-remastered CDs are a must for every Rory collector. They were mixed with love and you don't miss the mistakes from early mixes. I listened to all the disc through my headphone and must say: amazing sound. You will love the new mixes as well and yes, you can sell your old cds, even the remastered mini-lp-cd set from Japan do not have this quality! With this 6 CD-set a new era of Rory Gallagher just begins. Hopefully the rest will be done also in the future!!!

These 2112 remasters are a must for Rory fans ,as I write this review ,I cannot help noticing the high price for this since Amazon have run out of these Digipaks .
But buyers 'NOTE! this is available as I write this review in a 'Jewel case'2112 remaster from Amazon for six pounds and forty nine pence ,Exactly the same CD .and
identical booklet ,so if your not fussed about the Digipak editions then buy the jewel case and save yourself some cash (I prefer Jewel cases myself as you can replace the case ,but damage a Digi ,and your stuffed?? you then buy it again or make do with the damaged item? I would certainly buy these as they are far more superior
to the 1999 editions ,hope this review helps ,just type in 'Rory Gallagher' and scroll down for the 2112 'Import jewel case'Why wait for some greedy seller offer you
this in Digipak for a silly price NOTE!! what this is going for when I write this review DAFT-OR WHAT??
Kind regards Barry.

Having only got "into" Rory Gallagher in the last 2 years and doing my best to catch up, even though I have seen him in concert twice over the years, I finally got to hear this gem of a live gig. I have never heard it before on any other media, so I am unable to comment on how effective the remastering etc.... has been. What I can say with complete confidence is that it sounds stunning. I feel like opening the windows to let the steam rising from the crowd out. The atmosphere is electric and the band are in top form.

Rory has always been regarded as a master of the guitar and this live recording is proof positive that any hyperbole you have ever heard about his ability to make any type of guitar sing is all true. The man is literally in a league of his own. He is without doubt the best guitar player to ever come out of Ireland, possibly closely followed by Jim Armstrong(Them/Skboo/Jim Armstrong Blues Band/Light).

His backing band at this stage were I believe the finest that he ever had. Gerry McAvoy on bass, the only constant throughout Rorys solo career, solidly nailing the beat and shaping the changes while Rory soloed. Lou Martin on keyboards, adding a breadth to the live sound that is lacking in the trio setup. I love the sound of the cheap electric piano that he uses on a couple of the tracks, not flash, nothing fancy, just 100% right for the song. Finally Rod De'Ath on drums, flexible and always adding the right feel to each and every change the songs go through as the pace is held back and them ramped up to drive the crowd wild.

For anyone with any interest in Rory Gallaghers music this must surely be a must buy.

Irish Tour 74' contains many blues or blues related tracks with Rory on slide guitar ( on some tracks)and also covering Muddy Waters and JB Hutto on a few tracks.
This is Rory at his rawest and best. The crowds in Ireland in 1974 worshiped Rory and he gave a performance they wanted and deserved.
My favorite tracks from this CD are Tattoo Lady & Walk On Hot Coals.
It's a shame they couldn't add a few more tracks from that tour.
As a 'live' CD this is one of the best Rory did. I am hoping there will be more material from Taste issued in the near future (maybe a DVD).

Rock on Rory!

I don't know about this re-mastered version but I first had this on vinyl (in fact still have) and now an earlier CD version. But whatever the media it is brilliant - doesn't matter about the quality. Rory was always best live and this backs it up. As the crowd chants at one point - "Nice one Rory" !!
However, also get 'Live in Europe' - a shorter set but just as superb.
If you want to hear one of the best (if not the best - look up Jimi Hendrix's quote) guitarists of all time then buy this and 'Live in Europe'.

Can't praise this highly enough, Rory was a genius and the live work is excellent. I wish I had been there, I only "discovered" him earlier this year and now can't get enough of his work. What a legacy he left to the music world, those blistering guitar solo's, absobloodylutly brilliant.
