Product Description

In 1974, award winning film maker Tony Palmer followed Rory Gallagher and his band on their tour of Ireland. The subsequent movie was released in cinemas to great critical acclaim and has gone on to be accepted as one of the great rock films. Now for the first time the film has been lovingly restored and remastered from the original footage and is being reissued on DVD and released for the first time on Blu-ray. There is a massive improvement in both sound and picture quality over the original DVD release and finally Gallagher fans can get to see the film as it was meant to be, capturing Rory, his music, the period and the place to perfection.

Captured the Times 25 May 2011
Format:DVD
I'm no purist just a fan of Rory for many years and I'm just re-discovering his music.
This video is a thoroughly enjoyable watch. Rory's natural charm comes through in the between song moments and I found it quite poignant. I thought the performances themselves were great. I played the video through my Denon with Kef speakers and felt the sound quality was fine. I of course didn't expect to hear as good sound as can be created these days but why would I?
The video captures the time perfectly and I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to see one of the masters at work and one of the nicest guys to grace the world of music.

Another sloppy remaster 18 April 2011
Format:DVD
Having owned the classic "Irish Tour" album for years, I had big expectations to this release. However, I dare to day that I'm rather dissapointed with the sound quality of this dvd. The sound is muddy in places and there's almost no bottom-end. This is somewhat strange as the cd, which was recorded during the same tour, sounds fine with lots of detail and bottom-end. However, I love Rory's music and of course it's great to see him perform live. But I wish the producers would have paid a little more attention to this remaster. Rory's legend surely deserves that.

Great film 22 Oct 2011
Format:Blu-ray
If you're a fan of the G man you need this film. If you're into blues/rock you need this film. If you like seeing some bloke having a good time playing rock'n'roll you need this film. An older version of it has been available before but this high quality remaster really brings it to life.
