3.0 out of 5 stars Good Irish Food, 11 Feb 2007

Irish cooking has its own distinct style: basic ingredients put together with native touches. This book does a nice job of presenting traditional Irish recipes. It isn't a huge book with page after page of creative ways of presenting Irish food, but it does what it does well. For an in-depth study of Irish cooking you'll want to go elsewhere, but this is a nice place to start, with good, sound recipes that work well, given in an easy-to-understand way.

5.0 out of 5 stars Old and New, 16 Mar 2011
By Aine - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: The Irish Country Kitchen (Paperback)
I like this cookbook because it appears to a blend of both traditional and modern without loosing the sense of wholesome and fullness; fullness as opposed to skimpy sized meals.

There is a glossary of cookery terms and names, conversion of measurement charts, cooking methods, historic and cultural snippets. Where neccessary, recipes will have Watchpoints, To Vary and other little notes which could be useful.

I see this volume as being the all-rounder of Irish Cooking, at least it will be for me.
